Chapter 125
As soon as Sienna walked through the door, Elisa rushed over, her face etched with concern. โMiss Amberโs been in a mood since she got back,โ Elisa said, her voice low. โShe wonโt talk about what happened, and she hasnโt eaten anything. Just sitting there on the couch, like sheโs waiting for you.โ
Vivian rolled her eyes in annoyance. โSheโs not a little kid. Why do we need to care about her? Let her go hungry for a bit. Sheโll be fine.โ
Sienna sighed helplessly. โGo change and wash up, Vivian. Iโll go check on her.โ
Vivian grumbled, โSienna, youโre always on her side. Amber is clearly doing this on purpose. It is so obvious. She just wants Siennaโs attention. Honestly, I just want to give her a few playful smacks on the butt,โ Vivian thought, reluctantly heading upstairs to wash up.
Sienna noticed Amberโs backpack carelessly tossed on the floor. Normally, Amber loved playing games on her phone, but today the phone wasnโt on the table. She saw a pink corner peeking out from the backpack. Sienna pulled it out and found that the screen was completely shattered. A bad feeling settled in her stomach. โAmber, were you waiting for me?โ Sienna asked gently.
Amber huffed, turning her head away with a sharp tone. โNo oneโs waiting for you! Iโm just sitting here, thinking!โ
Seeing Amberโs puffy cheeks, Sienna smiled and ruffled her hair. โElisa said you havenโt eaten. How about I make you some chicken stew?โ
โReally?โ Amberโs eyes immediately brightened, and she smiled widely at Sienna, full of anticipation.
Sienna chuckled. โOf course. Iโll make it for you!โ
Amber suddenly realized how easily sheโd given in, and her cheeks turned red with embarrassment. She bit her lip, huffed, and turned her back to Sienna, trying to salvage some dignity. โI donโt want any. Iโm not even hungry.โ
Sienna knew her too well. โWell, Iโm hungry. Want to join?โ
Amber nodded, trying to sound reluctant. โFine, Iโll eat with you, but just to humor you!โ
โIโm going to go change. Amber, can you go help Elisa get the ingredients ready?โ Sienna asked.
Amber jumped up, barely able to hide her excitement. She tried to act all nonchalant, but her eyes totally gave her away. โOf course I can. Iโm not just here for a free meal.โ
Sienna asked Vivian if she wanted to eat. Vivian agreed and changed into her pajamas, saying, โSienna, letโs make it together.โ
Vivian figured Sienna must be hungry and just wanted to whip up a quick bowl for herself.
But then Sienna added, โGreat! Amberโs downstairs helping Elisa prepare the ingredients. Why donโt you go check on them?โ
โWait, Amberโs eating too?โ Vivian asked, clearly annoyed.
Sienna nodded. โYeah, Amber hasnโt eaten anything tonight.โ
Vivian finally understood. It wasnโt Sienna who was hungry. It was Amber. And it wasnโt like anyone was stopping Amber from eating. Sienna was already exhausted and now had to cook something for her. Vivian was extremely angry but pretended to be willing, forcing a smile. โDonโt worry, Sienna. Iโll make sure to help out.โ
When Sienna finally made it into the kitchen, it was a complete disaster. Ingredients were scattered all over the floor. Vivian and Amber had already started fighting. Sienna closed her eyes, rubbed her forehead, and said firmly, โStop!โ Sienna had originally hoped to take the opportunity to ask Amber about what had happened today, but it seemed like that would have to wait.
At the sound of Siennaโs voice, Vivian froze. But Amber, refusing to back down, grabbed a fistful of flour and chucked it right at Vivianโs faceโthen stood there, trying to look all innocent.
Vivian jumped in first, โSienna, I was just trying to help, and she went off on me for no reason! Look what she did to the kitchen!โ
Amber shot back. โI did not! Vivian was the one causing trouble. Vivian, youโre lying. Youโre always doing things and then pretending you didnโt.โ
Vivian snorted, โAmber, are you seriously going to say you didnโt want it?โ
Amber glared at her, looking like an angry kitten. Her short hair was covered in veggies and egg, making both of them look ridiculous.
โAlright, thatโs enough,โ Sienna said firmly. โBoth of you, go upstairs and clean yourselves up. Elisa, have the maids clean up down here. Iโll use the kitchen upstairs.โ
Amber shot her hand up. โI want to help you!โ
Vivian jumped in, not to be outdone. โSienna, I want to help, too!โ
Sienna waved them off. โNope, not happening. The only thing you two need to do right now is wash up. If you donโt, no food for either of you.โ
Both girls, muttering under their breath, went upstairs, but not without pushing each other a little. Amber, though shorter and rounder than Vivian, had enough force to almost knock Vivian over. Then, walking proudly with her chest out, she strutted back to her room, clearly pleased with herself.
Elisa helped Sienna in the kitchen, and before long, the ingredients were prepped and ready. โMiss Sienna, itโs so good to have you back. The house feels like home again,โ Elisa said, her voice filled with emotion.
As she spoke, her thoughts drifted to Winifred, who still hadnโt come home. With a hint of worry, Elisa asked, โMiss Sienna, do you know when Miss Winifred will be back?โ
Siennaโs expression became determined. โSoon,โ she replied firmly.
A wave of bitterness washed over Sienna as she thought about her mother. The image of her motherโs silhouette in her memories grew more and more blurred, but her longing for her mother never faded.
โMiss Sienna, the chicken is ready,โ Elisa called, snapping Sienna out of her thoughts and bringing her focus back to the food.
By the time Vivian and Amber came back downstairs, the chicken stew was ready and smelled amazing. Both of them couldnโt help but swallow in unison.
Sienna looked at their eager expressions and smiled. โCome on, eat up. Itโll get cold if you wait.โ
โAlright, alright,โ both girls replied, their voices and actions perfectly in sync. โLetโs eat together.โ
Sienna wasnโt really hungry, so she only took a couple of bites. Then she spotted Lana standing at the doorway and immediately sensed that something was wrong.
โYou two eat first. Iโm going to the restroom,โ Sienna said as she got up.
โOkay,โ both of them replied at the same time.
After Sienna left, Vivian and Amber started getting more annoyed with each other and ate faster. Vivian finished first, but Amber, with her bigger appetite, still hadnโt had enough.
Full and satisfied, Vivian pulled out her phone and saw a friend request pop up. She immediately declined it without a second thought.
Lanaโs voice was tinged with urgency. โMiss Sienna, there are two things. First, itโs about Han Corporation. Someone has locked down our supply. Itโs the Winslow Group, led by Henry Winslow. Iโve already taken emergency action, but weโve still suffered some losses.โ
โWhatโs the second thing?โ Sienna asked.
