Chapter 615

Listen to this chapter:

Everyone at the tableโ€”even Ivyโ€”sat there, wide-eyed and stunned.

Jamison calmly took his seat and added, โ€œAnd for the ingredients we havenโ€™t used yet, those can be cooked up for my brother and sister-in-law. They work so hardโ€”they should really take better care of themselves. Who knows, maybe after theyโ€™re replenished, theyโ€™ll go for baby number four.โ€

Ivy was speechless.

Was he always this infuriating as a kid? If so, it was a miracle heโ€™d survived childhood.

Thad, seeing he and his wife had been dragged into this out of nowhere, could only laugh in exasperation. โ€œHave you no decency? Your sister-in-law isnโ€™t exactly young anymore, and youโ€™re pushing for a fourth child?โ€

Davinaโ€™s cheeks flushed. She wanted nothing to do with this conversation and quickly cleared her throat. โ€œAlright, enough talk. Letโ€™s just eat.โ€

She turned to the housekeeper and said, โ€œThat soupโ€”donโ€™t serve it to Hal, and give the adults just a little.โ€

Halley, blissfully unaware of any awkwardness and always the little foodie, immediately protested, โ€œMom, why canโ€™t I have any? I want some too!โ€

โ€œHush! No fussing. You can have milk later,โ€ Davina soothed him.

But Halley piped up, bright-eyed and innocent, โ€œCanโ€™t I have both milk and soup?โ€

โ€œNo, you cannot.โ€

His eyes darted as he pondered this, then lit up as if heโ€™d solved a mystery. โ€œOh, I get it! If you drink that soup, youโ€™ll have a baby, right? You drink the soup, your tummy gets big, and then you have a baby!โ€

There was no denying itโ€”Halley had picked up far too much, and kids his age had no filter.

Davina barely managed to stop herself from covering his mouth.

Everyone at the table was red-faced with embarrassment until finally Danny waved a hand. โ€œTake the soup away. And in the future, just forget about making any more.โ€ The matriarch started to protest, but her husband quickly cut her off. โ€œLet it go.

Chapter 615

Youโ€™re not going to win this one.โ€

All she could do was sigh deeply in defeat.

Ivy spent the rest of the meal blushing furiously. Sheโ€™d never imagined the old lady would be so obsessed with them having more childrenโ€”going so far as to cook up โ€œfertility-boostingโ€ recipes for them.

She kept her head down and barely spoke, just hoping to finish her meal and escape as quickly as possible.

Meanwhile, Jamison, who had single-handedly ensured nobody got soup, remained perfectly composed, eating with his usual elegance and not a trace of guilt.

After Thadโ€™s two kids finished eating and left the table, Adela Ludwig turned to her youngest son. โ€œDid you two see a doctor yet? I spoke with a specialist, and they said your condition can be treatedโ€”surgery would do it.โ€

Of course Ivy knew this. But uterine surgery came with real risks, and Jamison was completely unwilling to let her go through that unless it was absolutely necessary.

These days, during her worst times each month, Jamison took excellent care of her. His massages helped ease her pain, and she was feeling much better than before.

Thatโ€™s why Jamison insisted on this gentler approach. It might be slow, but it was safest for her body.

Now, at the mention of surgery, Jamison immediately pushed back. โ€œIโ€™m a doctor, Mom. Donโ€™t you think I know a little more about this? Right now, surgery isnโ€™t an option for her.โ€

Sheโ€™d been underweight and anemic for so long. It had taken months of careful care just to get her looking healthier, with a bit more color and flesh on her bones. He wasnโ€™t about to let her go under the knife unless she was in the best shape possible.

Even if surgery became unavoidable, heโ€™d wait until her health was at its peakโ€”only then would her body be able to handle it.

Adela sighed again. โ€œYouโ€™re so protective. Any time someone brings up your wife, itโ€™s like theyโ€™re threatening your life.โ€

Jamison answered without missing a beat. โ€œShe is my life.โ€

At that, Ivy nudged his arm and shot him a warning look.

Since it was clear this subject was off-limits, the matriarch had no choice but to steer the conversation elsewhere.
