Chapter 106

She hadnโ€™t even finished speaking when her phone buzzed again. It was Emma, calling yet again. Ivy ignored the call, pressed reject, and looked at Emma. โ€œWhat did Father Benedict say?โ€

Before Emma could answer, a man in black glanced out the window. โ€œMiss Windsor, there are a lot of patrol cars on the street.โ€

Ivy leaned over to see for herself. Sure enough, blue and red lights flashed everywhere, police cars lining the block. It seemed the Windsor family โ€“ or maybe Micah โ€“ had already realized Emma had been โ€œkidnapped.โ€

โ€œHow much longer?โ€ Ivy asked.

โ€œTen minutes,โ€ the driver replied.

โ€œStep on it.โ€

But they didnโ€™t even need ten minutes. The limousine turned into the driveway of a sprawling mansion. Emma was dragged out of the car, kicking and struggling. โ€œIvy, what the hell are you doing? I already apologized! What more do you want from me?โ€

Ivy hopped out first, tossing over her shoulder, โ€œTaking you somewhere nice.โ€

โ€œYouโ€ฆ youโ€™re selling me off, arenโ€™t you?โ€ Emmaโ€™s panic rose. โ€œThis is illegal! If my parents find out Iโ€™m missing, youโ€™ll be their first suspect!โ€

Ivy couldnโ€™t be bothered to answer. She strode into the mansion. Emmaโ€™s shouting didnโ€™t stop. She screamed threats, cried for help, hurled curses all the way through the foyer.

โ€œEmma, if you donโ€™t shut up, Iโ€™ll have someone shove a snake down your throat,โ€ Ivy said coolly.

The noise cut off instantly. For a moment, there was only the sound of Emmaโ€™s ragged, terrified breathing. Then she muttered, trembling, โ€œYouโ€™re crazyโ€ฆ Youโ€™re completely insane-โ€

Ivy snorted. โ€œAfter being trafficked to a place like that? Locked in a pigsty for three years? Going nuts is the most normal thing in the world.โ€

โ€œIโ€™m lucky to even be alive. So what if Iโ€™m a little crazy?โ€ Ivy dropped onto the sofa, tilting her chin in command.

Someone yanked off Emmaโ€™s hood. So much for Emmaโ€™s fancy new hairdo โ€“ it looked like a birdโ€™s nest now, wild and tangled. She squinted, blinking against the sudden light. As her eyes adjusted, she saw Ivy lounging on the couch โ€“ and immediately let loose. โ€œYou psycho! What is this place? What do you want from me?โ€

Ivy replied, โ€œItโ€™s your birthday.โ€ She lifted her hand, gesturing around the room. โ€œSo, what do you think of the birthday party decorations?โ€

Emma twisted around, finally taking in her surroundings. She was inside a mansion, the massive living room decked out to the nines โ€“ flowers, balloons, an elaborate spread of food and wine, everything sparkling and perfect. And there, lined up along the wall, a row of young, strikingly handsome men, each one masked with a sleek black half-mask, dressed in crisp white shirts, black trousers, and tailored vests. They looked like theyโ€™d been plucked straight from an exclusive gentlemenโ€™s club โ€“ perfect, polished, and ready to please.

Emma was speechless. โ€œIvyโ€ฆ what are you doing?!โ€

Ivy smiled, turning to the men. โ€œTodayโ€™s my little sisterโ€™s birthday. I want you all to give her the time of her life. Make it unforgettable.โ€

The men saluted in unison. โ€œYes, Miss Windsor.โ€

As upbeat music filled the air, they closed in on Emma, circling her, dancing, flirting, teasing โ€“ everything short of tearing her clothes off. Meanwhile, a video camera was set up across the room, recording every second. Ivy lounged comfortably, sipping wine, watching the spectacle unfold.

Suddenly, sirens wailed outside โ€“ loud, insistent, and getting closer. At least three or four squad cars, by the sound of it.

Katrina leaned over, whispering, โ€œIvy, the police are here.โ€

โ€œRelax. Everythingโ€™s under control.โ€ Ivy nodded at the men. โ€œUntie her.โ€

In moments, the ropes around Emmaโ€™s wrists and ankles were gone. Overcome with relief, Emma leapt up, ready to bolt for the door โ€“ but the men closed ranks, pressing her back into the chair and surrounding her, dancing even closer, blocking every escape.

The front doors burst open as a swarm of police officers stormed in, weapons drawn, the tension in the room snapping taut.

โ€œPolice! Nobody move!โ€
