With a cheerful whistle, she sought out Caden. Meanwhile, he had carefully examined the purported evidence and, with resignation, accepted the situation. Yolanda had deleted all records from his phone and replaced it in his coat pocket. As Caden donned his coat, Yolanda emerged from around the corner, feigning arrival.
โCaden, your thoughts?โ she asked, her tone light yet expectant.
Cadenโs face remained impassive. โI donโt have any,โ he replied dismissively.
Taken aback by his indifference, Yolanda pressed on. โYou still wonโt cooperate with my father?โ
With a cold demeanor, Caden turned and walked away. He instinctively reached for his phone to call Alicia, but the call failed. His frown deepened as he exited the hotel lounge and proceeded down the hallway.
Yolanda followed closely, attempting to persuade him with arguments for and against cooperation. Caden ignored her, his irritation escalating with each word. She persisted.
โCaden, if you ever need anything, Iโm here. Marriage is irrelevant. Iโm ready to support you, no matter what.โ
Cadenโs response was frigid, laced with contempt. โWithout Dorian, youโre insignificant. What use could I possibly have for you?โ
He abruptly stopped, his gaze fixed on a nearby room. A pang of pain pierced his heart, halting him. Yolanda noticed his reaction; the room was Alicia and Blakeโs suite.
Her heart pounded, breath catching in her throat. She feared heโd sensed something, her anxiety intensifying.
โWhatโs wrong?โ Yolanda asked cautiously, a hint of concern in her voice.
Caden suppressed his unease and quickly turned, unwilling to linger. He walked away with determined strides.
Watching him leave, Yolanda breathed a sigh of relief. She immediately called Corey.
โDid your team mess up? Check now. Caden seemed to notice something before he left,โ she said, her voice tense.
Corey sounded annoyed. โWhat do you mean?โ
โHe stopped for a few seconds when he passed Aliciaโs room.โ
โWhere is he now?โ Corey asked sharply.
โHeโs gone; I donโt know where.โ
Corey chuckled, teasing her nervousness. โYou know Caden. If heโd really noticed something, he would have confronted it.โ
Reassured, Yolanda relaxed slightly. As she did, Dorian appeared, placing a coat over her shoulders.
โItโs chilly, and youโre inadequately dressed. Donโt catch cold,โ he said softly.
