Chapter 693

As Alicia left the hospital, she received an unexpected call from Regina. "Ms. Bennett," Regina said, "I need to speak with you privately."

In a cozy cafรฉ, Alicia ordered coffee for Regina. "Would you like a slice of cake as well?" she offered. Touched by Alicia's kindness, Regina felt a pang of guilt. Not wanting to betray her feelings, she replied, "I'll have whatever you're having."

Alicia had a small slice of green cake. She gestured for the waiter to bring another. As Regina took a bite, the tartness surprised her, particularly contrasted with Alicia's enthusiastic enjoyment; she devoured half her slice in one bite.

Setting down her spoon, Regina decided to be direct. "I need to talk to you about Caden."

Alicia took a sip of water, preparing herself. "Please, go on."

Unable to meet Alicia's gaze, Regina stirred her coffee. "I heard Caden's been in an online meeting all night and hasn't finished."

Alicia's heart tightened. "Is something wrong at his company?"

Regina nodded. "There's been a mole at the overseas headquarters. Confidential information was leaked, and the shareholders are in an uproar."

Alicia's face paled. She had suspected product problems, but hadn't anticipated this severity. "Who's the mole?" she asked.

Regina was taken aback. She contrasted Alicia's reaction with Yolanda's; Yolanda would have pleaded for help, while Alicia confronted the issue head-on.

"It's Gareth," Regina replied.

Alicia's fists clenched. "Gareth? Last time Caden was abroad, he nearly died donating blood to save Gareth. And now this betrayal?"

Regina's voice was calm. "That's how society works. Past favors become worthless when something better comes along."

Alicia laughed bitterly. Though sympathetic to Caden, she quickly accepted the harsh reality. "Did Gareth side with Dorian?"

Regina looked surprised.
