Before he could finish, Alicia pressed her hand over his mouth. Caden, however, used the distraction to subtly raise his hand. Alicia clicked her tongue, grabbed his arm, and held it firmly.
โCan you behave for even a moment? Youโre hopeless, like a lovesick puppy.โ
Caden chuckled. โOnly for you.โ
She playfully swatted his hand away. โI went to the hospital today because my stomach was hurting.โ
Cadenโs smile vanished, his eyes filled with concern. โAre you okay now? Does it still hurt?โ
Alicia offered a small smile. โIf it did, do you think Iโd let you be this close?โ
He frowned. โWhy did it hurt? Waitโare you pregnant?โ
Aliciaโs eyes widened. โPregnant? No way.โ โWeโve been careful, remember?โ But a memory surfaced, making her heart skip a beatโthe day they bought their rings, the unplanned moment. They'd agreed she'd take medication afterward, but Cadenโs unexpected trip abroad meant she hadn't. Could it be? From just that one time?
She took a deep breath. โItโs nothing serious. I get cramps before my period, so I went to get some painkillers.โ
Caden visibly relaxed. โDid you take the medicine?โ
โNot yet,โ Alicia admitted. โThere were last-minute issues at the gallery, so I left without picking them up.โ She chuckled, her eyes sparkling.
โOh, by the way, I have something for you,โ Alicia said, producing a small box from her bag. โIโve been waiting for the right moment to give it to you.โ
