Chapter 631
While unconscious, he had overheard snippets of conversation, learning of Caden's brave fight to save him. He had known Caden for years, watching him build Blizzard Group from the ground up, considering him not just a partner, but a brother. How could he possibly betray him now? Corey tucked the photo back into his pocket with cold finality.
"Take your time," a voice instructed. "You have one day to decide." With that, he swiftly left the room.
Exhausted and weak from blood loss, Caden fell asleep the moment he reached his hotel room. A doctor was summoned to administer an IV, and Alicia remained by his side, watching over him all night.
When Caden awoke the next day, the first thing he saw was Alicia, resting peacefully on his chest. He felt stronger, though his body was still weak. His arm, numb from being under her, moved slightly, instantly waking Alicia.
"What's wrong?" she asked, sighing in relief as she met his intense gaze. "You're awake. How are you feeling?"
Caden looked at his arm; the bandage was soaked with blood from the previous day's wound. Alicia was startled. "What happened here?"
Caden replied with a touch of humor, "You've been sleeping on my arm for hours. What do you think happened?"
Alicia began tending to his wound, quietly cleaning the drool that had accumulated while she slept. Caden leaned against the headboard, observing her pale, delicate face. "Haven't you eaten anything yet?"
Alicia yawned, her hunger amplified by her restful sleep. "No time to eat," she said, her stomach rumbling audibly a moment later. She gave him a slightly accusing look. "This is your fault. If I weren't busy looking after you, would I be this hungry?"
Caden was speechless, looking at his still-numb arm and the blood-soaked gauze he'd just discarded. "I'm grateful for your care," he said. "If you hadn't woken up, I might have continued bleeding."
Alicia's lips quirked. "You're quite delicate, aren't you? Like a porcelain doll."
Caden arched an eyebrow. "Delicate like a porcelain doll? I assure you, I'm still capable of quite a bit."
Alicia scoffed.
