Chapter 616: Alicia didn't blame him. But they were adults; she knew there was still a chance of pregnancy, no matter how careful he was. Alicia's health wasn't the best. Her difficult childhood had led to unhealthy habits and irregular menstrual cycles. A doctor had even told her that conceiving would be difficult. Given her life's challenges, Alicia hadn't considered having children and hadn't sought treatment.
"It should be fine," Alicia said hopefully. "If you want to be sure, we can stop by the pharmacy later and get some pills."
Caden frowned. He knew the negative side effects those pills would have on her body. "Are you in your safe period?" he asked.
Alicia calculated the dates. "Yes."
"Well, you don't have to worry too much. The chances of conception are already slim."
Caden fell silent. After a while, his voice unusually low, he said, "You already have fertility issues. Taking the pills will only make things worse."
Alicia blinked, staring at him. "Isn't that a good thing? For you, I mean. That would mean we wouldn't have to worry about accidents again."
Caden looked at her, his expression somber and unreadable. Exhaling loudly, he handed her clothes. "It might be a good thing for most men, but not for me."
Alicia's chest tightened. "But you don't want kids," she stated absentmindedly.
Caden's frown deepened. "Who the hell said that? If I didn't want kids, I would have told you to take the pills from the start. Why would I even hesitate?"
Alicia continued staring at him, a strange thought crossing her mind. Could Caden actually want a child with her? She dismissed the idea immediately. "No, that's not possible," she muttered, shaking her head. "We're not married. Having a child under these circumstances would only be a burden."
