Chapter 575:
Silence hung heavy on the line.
โIsnโt Blake your nephew?โ Corey asked.
โAlicia was your younger brotherโs wife,โ Caden replied. โNow, your relative has developed a crush on her. Is there some Ward family gene that prevents you all from seeing the obvious?โ
Caden chuckled lightly. โMany people find Alicia appealing. Blake is just one of them. I even approve of you liking her, but know youโll end up alone.โ
Corey scoffed. โFeelings are fickle, Caden. Are you so sure Alicia will remain devoted to you forever?โ
โYes, I am.โ
Corey had never encountered such conceit. He returned to the matter at hand. โI can tell Alicia cares about this shareholder. Heโs an obstacle to your future with her, but I assume you donโt mind, right?โ
Caden snorted.
Corey continued, โThe chip needs repairing, and I have no other options. If Alicia helps me, Iโll return Blake unharmed. I hope you wonโt interfere, Caden.โ
Caden replied, โCorey, you didnโt need to call.โ
Coreyโs gaze narrowed, struggling to decipher Cadenโs intentions. โWhat do you mean?โ
Caden said, โBlake is in your territory now. Do what you will. Itโs none of my concern. Even if he dies, it doesnโt matter.โ
Corey was speechless. Cadenโs ruthless reaction shocked him; heโd grossly underestimated Cadenโs cold-heartedness. He had to admit Caden was too petty to show mercy, even to a relative.
Shortly after ending the call, Caden visited Alicia.
โAre you willing to help Corey?โ
Alicia hesitated, but Blakeโs capture made it clear Corey wasnโt to be trifled with. To avoid escalation, she needed to proceed cautiously.
โWhatโs your take on this?โ she asked, seeking Cadenโs perspective.
Caden shrugged, his indifference evident. โItโs your decision.โ
Alicia pressed, โAre you feeling threatened?โ . . .
