Chapter 512
Fuming, Alicia swatted his hand away, a clear warning. “Then go ahead and touch them!” she retorted. She tried to pull away, but he pulled her back into his arms. His grip was as strong as iron. She kicked and struggled, but Caden only laughed, carrying her effortlessly toward the bathtub. He placed her hand on his belt. “Unbuckle it for me. Help me with my bath.”
Alicia glared, defiant. “I’ll throw you in instead.”
“Be my guest. Show me what you’ve got.” His shameless challenge made her bristle, but struggling was futile. Before she could protest, he had her in the tub. Her clothes were stripped away, leaving her clinging to him, seeking warmth and security.
Reclining with her in the warm water, Caden held her close. “The man I was drinking with, Marlon, is powerful here in Terriland. I’m working with him so that if anything goes wrong, he’ll have my back.”
Alicia fell silent, processing his words before asking, “Is it what I think it is?”
“Yes,” he replied. “Ammunition and firearms smuggling, human trafficking—every kind of illicit deal.”
Alicia’s face twisted with concern. “Why would you get involved with someone like that?”
Reading her unease, he explained, “I’m only hiring him. I have no intention of getting involved in his business. My main reason is that he had dealings with Corey before; Corey even bought something from him.”
“What did Corey buy?” Alicia asked.
“I don’t plan to force the truth out of him yet. He’s tight-lipped and wary. If I push too hard, I’ll give myself away.” Caden effortlessly lifted her, settling her legs around his waist. “But this trip wasn’t without its rewards.” At least he had uncovered Corey’s weakness.
Alicia tried to keep the conversation serious, but Caden was all over her, undeterred. Her cheeks flushed, though she managed a slight frown. The water splashed wildly with their movements. Alicia bit her hand, her voice muffled. “There’s a girl outside…”
Caden’s voice was low and rough. “I made sure she can’t hear us.”
Alicia’s brow furrowed, still doubtful. “Do you really prefer them that young?”
Caden’s response was a bite on her shoulder, drawing a sharp gasp. “Am I truly that much of a beast?” he teased. “Marlon offered me women to test my sincerity. I requested high school girls because they’re simple and obedient—easier to win over.”
Alicia pouted, clearly unimpressed. After two rounds in the bathtub, Caden lifted her and carried her to the mirror. Alicia scolded him for his lack of restraint, but despite her words, she couldn’t resist him, surrendering to his every whim.
“Why did you come looking for me?” Caden asked, his tone softening as satisfaction washed over him. “Did you miss me that much?”
