Chapter 491:
โNo need,โ he replied, his eyes gleaming. โI donโt need nicotine to cope. Iโve had my fill of you tonight; my mouth can rest now.โ
Alicia was surprised. โIt took you that many times to feel satisfied? I thought youโd be worn out!โ
Caden chuckled softly. He always found Aliciaโs candidness about their intimacy amusing. He took her hand and pressed it against his crotch. โWell, does it feel like Iโm worn out?โ
Alicia quickly snatched her hand away, swatting his arm. โStop it! Youโre trying to take advantage of me again.โ Despite her words, she didnโt pull away, instead wrapping her arms tighter around his neck. โLetโs go to sleep, okay?โ she said softly.
Her gentleness was unusual, and Caden savored the moment. โAll right.โ He hoisted her up and carried her to the bedroom.
But her docility was short-lived. โI mean, if you suddenly dropped dead, what would I use for pleasure?โ
Caden clicked his tongue, squeezing her hip. Alicia giggled, burrowing deeper into his arms. โI know I always joke about finding someone else when youโre gone, but Iโve grown so used to you that I donโt think I could even look at anyone else.โ
A tender warmth filled his chest, but his desires stirred. He suppressed them. โWhat time is it?โ
Alicia vaguely remembered checking his monitor. โItโs well past three, I think.โ Three in the morning was far too late for anything strenuous.
Caden set her down with a deep sigh. โLetโs just sleep, or we might not wake up on time tomorrow.โ
โSo, you have trouble waking up sometimes too? I thought you operated like a robot with your strict schedules. Sometimes, I imagine Iโd just have to feed you some oil, and youโd go for three days straight.โ
Caden smirked. โIf I could run for three days straight, do you think youโd survive?โ
Alicia shuddered. Then, realization dawned. โDo you have important business tomorrow?โ
โYeah, Iโm leaving on a flight at six.โ
โSo early?โ Alicia gasped. โThen why on earth did you stay up so late?โ She pulled him to the bed, covering his eyes as if that would make him fall asleep instantly.
Caden wasnโt one for childishness, but he didnโt mind. He placed his hand over hers. โArenโt you going to ask where Iโm going?โ
โOh, right. Where are you going?โ
โTerriland,โ he answered without hesitation. Normally, he wouldnโt have shared this detail, especially since he was investigating Coreyโs background. Tomorrowโs itinerary was supposed to remain secret. But Alicia had asked, so he answered.
โThe situation in Terriland is pretty volatile,โ Alicia said, worried. โAre you going there by yourself?โ
โI have people stationed there. If youโre concerned about my safety, you have nothing to worry about.โ
His words did little to comfort her. โGuns are legal over there. Are you really going to be okay?โ
โIโm going there for business, not for confrontation,โ Caden explained patiently. โNo one would have any reason to target me.โ
