Chapter 491:

โ€œNo need,โ€ he replied, his eyes gleaming. โ€œI donโ€™t need nicotine to cope. Iโ€™ve had my fill of you tonight; my mouth can rest now.โ€

Alicia was surprised. โ€œIt took you that many times to feel satisfied? I thought youโ€™d be worn out!โ€

Caden chuckled softly. He always found Aliciaโ€™s candidness about their intimacy amusing. He took her hand and pressed it against his crotch. โ€œWell, does it feel like Iโ€™m worn out?โ€

Alicia quickly snatched her hand away, swatting his arm. โ€œStop it! Youโ€™re trying to take advantage of me again.โ€ Despite her words, she didnโ€™t pull away, instead wrapping her arms tighter around his neck. โ€œLetโ€™s go to sleep, okay?โ€ she said softly.

Her gentleness was unusual, and Caden savored the moment. โ€œAll right.โ€ He hoisted her up and carried her to the bedroom.

But her docility was short-lived. โ€œI mean, if you suddenly dropped dead, what would I use for pleasure?โ€

Caden clicked his tongue, squeezing her hip. Alicia giggled, burrowing deeper into his arms. โ€œI know I always joke about finding someone else when youโ€™re gone, but Iโ€™ve grown so used to you that I donโ€™t think I could even look at anyone else.โ€

A tender warmth filled his chest, but his desires stirred. He suppressed them. โ€œWhat time is it?โ€

Alicia vaguely remembered checking his monitor. โ€œItโ€™s well past three, I think.โ€ Three in the morning was far too late for anything strenuous.

Caden set her down with a deep sigh. โ€œLetโ€™s just sleep, or we might not wake up on time tomorrow.โ€

โ€œSo, you have trouble waking up sometimes too? I thought you operated like a robot with your strict schedules. Sometimes, I imagine Iโ€™d just have to feed you some oil, and youโ€™d go for three days straight.โ€

Caden smirked. โ€œIf I could run for three days straight, do you think youโ€™d survive?โ€

Alicia shuddered. Then, realization dawned. โ€œDo you have important business tomorrow?โ€

โ€œYeah, Iโ€™m leaving on a flight at six.โ€

โ€œSo early?โ€ Alicia gasped. โ€œThen why on earth did you stay up so late?โ€ She pulled him to the bed, covering his eyes as if that would make him fall asleep instantly.

Caden wasnโ€™t one for childishness, but he didnโ€™t mind. He placed his hand over hers. โ€œArenโ€™t you going to ask where Iโ€™m going?โ€

โ€œOh, right. Where are you going?โ€

โ€œTerriland,โ€ he answered without hesitation. Normally, he wouldnโ€™t have shared this detail, especially since he was investigating Coreyโ€™s background. Tomorrowโ€™s itinerary was supposed to remain secret. But Alicia had asked, so he answered.

โ€œThe situation in Terriland is pretty volatile,โ€ Alicia said, worried. โ€œAre you going there by yourself?โ€

โ€œI have people stationed there. If youโ€™re concerned about my safety, you have nothing to worry about.โ€

His words did little to comfort her. โ€œGuns are legal over there. Are you really going to be okay?โ€

โ€œIโ€™m going there for business, not for confrontation,โ€ Caden explained patiently. โ€œNo one would have any reason to target me.โ€
