Chapter 426
Both Vince and Kasumi were momentarily stunned. Her? This wasn't what they expected. Shouldn't Caden have made the decision?
Vince quickly recovered, turning to Caden with a forced smile. "Mr. Ward, perhaps I misunderstood."
Caden met his gaze coolly. "What part was unclear?"
Vince's smile faltered. He knew exactly what Alicia and Caden meant, but couldn't understand Caden's support for Alicia. Undeterred, he explained, "Your company previously gave us positive feedback and expressed interest in further discussion. That's why I'm here today, hoping to discuss a potential collaboration, Mr. Ward."
Caden replied calmly, "Ms. Bennett is new to the industry and asked for my help evaluating products. I recommended Watts Group out of respect for you, but unfortunately, we weren't impressed with the quality."
Vince's gaze shifted to Alicia, searching for an opening. "I see. So, Ms. Bennett, are you interested in working with us?"
Alicia nodded politely. Vince's eyes brightened. "Ms. Bennett, would you mind sharing what you found unsatisfactory about the product?"
Kasumi shifted uncomfortably, her frustration bubbling over. "Dad, she's doing this on purpose! She has a grudge against me and is trying to ruin—"
Vince, shocked, quickly covered Kasumi's mouth, glancing worriedly at Caden. To prevent a scene, Alicia gently pulled Kasumi away.
Shortly afterward, Kasumi learned Alicia had partnered with another brand. Her attempt to undermine Alicia had backfired, resulting in a family scolding for jeopardizing the partnership. Frustrated and alone, she called Yolanda in Devarlton, tearfully recounting the events.
Since Kasumi's last mistake, Yolanda had become more cautious, occasionally attempting to monitor Caden's personal life. However, his discretion made this difficult. News that Caden openly supported Alicia—even introducing her to the tech industry—was a shock. It was an unprecedented display of affection.
"He actually stood by Alicia, helping her select products to invest in," Kasumi complained. "But that's not all. He's even cut ties with my dad because of her! My dad is highly sought after! What does Alicia have that's so special?"
Yolanda's expression grew colder with each word. Kasumi's criticism of Alicia caused her deep discomfort. After months of silence, Caden and Alicia had reached this level of intimacy. A pang of sorrow struck Yolanda.
"What else has he done?" Yolanda asked, her voice tight.
Kasumi raised an eyebrow. "Isn't that enough? What's next? Proposing to her on the spot?"
"Enough! Just stop talking," Yolanda snapped.
