Chapter 424:
This only further infuriated Kasumi. She knocked the card from Alicia’s hand, glaring. “What useful advice could someone who lives off their looks possibly offer? Stop showing off.”
Alicia remained impassive. “Fine. Then consider the advice unnecessary.” Dealing with the impulsive young woman was souring Alicia’s mood, so she started to leave.
Kasumi shouted, “Wait! Change your rating first!”
Alicia turned, mockingly asking, “Is this how the tech industry works? Forcing users to leave positive reviews?”
Kasumi approached, not threateningly, but clearly confrontational. “Don’t think that just because you’re with Caden, you can—” She acted superior. “You probably don’t know my father just met with him. He decided to collaborate with us, and I’ll handle the upcoming projects.”
Alicia responded calmly, “Oh. What should I say? Congratulate you on taking on such a role at your age?”
Kasumi retorted coldly, “Caden’s success comes from making wise business choices. There are many beautiful women around him, and if you cross me, do you think he’ll still treat you kindly?”
Alicia chuckled softly. “Have you ever seen a homewrecker accompanying a CEO to these events?” She added gently, “If you’re not skilled in business, you should at least learn to keep silent. A single slip of the tongue can sometimes cost your company dearly.”
Alicia’s calm demeanor neutralized the situation. Kasumi was speechless, yet stubborn. As Alicia turned to leave, Kasumi spitefully yelled, “This world is insane! A homewrecker dares to be so arrogant!”
Alicia paused. Someone behind Kasumi murmured, “Don’t say that.”
“Why not? Didn’t you know Caden is engaged to Yolanda? They were an ideal couple until she interfered and split them up. Isn’t that the definition of a homewrecker?”
Someone nearby asked curiously, “How do you know so much about her?”
Kasumi responded confidently, “I used to be good friends with Yolanda. Our parents worked together, so of course, I know all about it.”
Alicia then understood Kasumi’s hostility. They knew she was experiencing VR, yet deliberately spoke loudly enough for her to hear. It was clear – Kasumi was defending Yolanda.
Alicia remained silent, simply leaving the room. Her calm demeanor only seemed to irritate Kasumi further. “How can she just walk away like that?” she muttered, visibly annoyed. “Doesn’t she have any temper?”
Someone beside her cautioned, “Let’s drop it. Mr. Ward brought her here, and he’s obviously fond of her. Even if she’s… just his secret lover, he wouldn’t be pleased to hear us talking this way.”
Kasumi scoffed. “So what? I haven’t done anything to her. My father is also about to start a collaboration with Blizzard Group. Business should come first, don’t you think?”
Meanwhile, Alicia stepped out for coffee, hoping to clear her mind. She took a sip but frowned. As she turned, she nearly bumped into Caden, who had silently appeared behind her.
“You scared me!” she exclaimed, catching her breath. “What are you doing sneaking up like that?”
