Chapter 422
Jerry had said cooking steak was challenging. Caden was curious to discover just how difficult it truly was; indeed, it proved tough and required skill. He gazed into Alicia's dark eyes.
โI wanted to impress you with my cooking, make you fall in love with it, so you wouldnโt leave me,โ he said.
Alicia found this amusing. โI always have nightmares when Iโm around you. It seems youโve been plotting to kill me all this time with your food,โ she teased. โPoor Cade, suffering because of me.โ
Caden grinned. โIs it really that bad?โ
Alicia replied, โShouldnโt you check on Cade? That situation was worse than getting neutered.โ
Caden continued, โSince weโre at the vet, why not handle the neutering too? Otherwise, during breeding season, heโd be uncontrollable, causing chaos everywhere.โ
Aliciaโs expression shifted. โIsnโt that a bit harsh?โ A few moments later, she thoughtfully stroked her chin. โBut it might be feasibleโฆโ
Caden suppressed a smile. โIt seems sharing a bed with you makes us think alike.โ
After the neutering surgery, the veterinarian asked, โWould you like to keep his testicles?โ Alicia glanced at Caden, leaving the decision to him. He examined the two small organs, feeling a sudden chill.
Alicia went to check on the dog. It was still hooked up to an IV, under anesthesia, semi-conscious. She gently caressed it. โYouโre doing this for your wellbeing.โ The dogโs eyes rolled back, and it lost consciousness entirely.
Alicia remained by its side for a while, then went outside to find Caden, who was photographing the dogโs testicles.
Alicia was confused. โSince when have you been so interested?โ He had never even taken pictures of the dog before.
Caden responded casually, โIโm sending the photos to a craftsman to get something custom-made.โ
Alicia leaned in curiously. โCustom-made what?โ
Caden angled his phone toward her. โA bell for Lucky.โ
Alicia felt uneasy. โYouโre not planning to use those, are you?โ
Caden looked at her, a teasing smile on his lips. โI hadnโt noticed, Ms. Bennett, that you had such a naughty side.โ
Aliciaโs cheeks flushed. โYour actions are the ones that are inappropriate.โ
Caden explained, โIโm asking the craftsman to create a bell that resembles them, as a souvenir for the dog.โ
Alicia couldnโt help but retort, โWhoโs the real naughty one between us? And didnโt the craftsman reprimand you?โ She frowned. โIf I received such an odd request, I wouldnโt be able to restrain myself.โ
Just then, Cadenโs phone rang. They both glanced at it. It was a message from the craftsman: โDid the dog steal the ownerโs phone to text me? Please give the phone back to your owner and stop causing trouble.โ
Caden was taken aback. Alicia, trying to preserve his pride, stifled her laughter.
