Chapter 349:

Caden replied flatly, "Originally, yes. But not anymore." He produced a box of pills. "Gerry mentioned you had a wine party tonight. I rushed back when I saw you get into a car, seemingly intoxicated." Seeing her composed, it was clear she'd faked her drunkenness, using it to manipulate Sheila.

Alicia's eyes fell on the medicine. Had he hurried back fearing an allergic reaction? Before she could respond, he threw the box at her, striking her chest with angry force. "Great performance," he mocked. "Your act was so convincing, even I was deceived." His voice hardened. "So, when you said you felt sympathy for my past, was that another act?"

He had never loved anyone as deeply. She occupied his thoughts constantly. Even after hurting her, he'd apologized, swallowing his pride. Yet, despite her harsh words, he couldn't let her go. He'd accepted his fate, repeatedly sacrificing his pride only to be pushed away. Now, he'd seen her use his most cherished friend against him. The irony stung.

The medicine box fell to the floor, a sharp pain shooting through Alicia's chest. Defeated and bitter, her explanations choked by his mockery, she replied softly, "If that's how you see me, then let it be. You don't need to bring me medicine or do anything. We broke up a long time ago. There's no point."

Caden's face remained impassive. "Broke up? Did we ever really date?" Alicia's fists clenched. Her eyes reddened. Despite her distress, he couldn't suppress a sneer, though a part of him was troubled. "Alicia, well done."

Alicia tossed the medicine box in the trash. The model, having changed, tidied up. After Ciara paid her, she left. Alicia was scrubbing bloodstains when the model helped. Alicia handed her the cleaning tools and turned to Ciara.

"It's getting late. I'll drive you home."

Ciara noticed her red eyes. "What happened?"

Alicia shook her head. As they walked downstairs, they saw Caden's car. He leaned against it, smoking. His sharp features exuded profound loneliness. Ciara was startled. "When did that kid get back?"

Alicia paused. "Why don't you go talk to him? I'm tired, I'll head home."

Ciara sensed something was amiss but Alicia left. Caden glanced over. His brow furrowed before settling on Alicia. Despite her coat, she looked delicate and fragile. He watched her silently, emotion flickering in his eyes.

Ciara settled into the car. "Why didn't you go see Alicia?"

Caden averted his gaze, extinguishing his cigarette. "I was there."

"Just now?" Ciara asked, confused. "Did you two argue in such a short time?"
