While these minor annoyances significantly inconvenienced Alicia, within a month she had moved three times and changed cars five times. Reporting Shelia to the police proved ineffective; her psychiatric diagnosis served as a protective shield. Alicia’s exasperated assistant exclaimed, “Ms. Bennett, Mr. Ward is Shelia's target. He should handle this. Why should we suffer?”
Alicia remained silent. Initially, Caden had offered help, but Alicia had refused, explicitly requesting he leave her alone. After repeated rejections, Caden ceased his efforts. Though they hadn't argued severely, their parting had been strained. For over two weeks, they'd avoided each other.
Alicia massaged her temples. “Caden and I clash. Dealing with him is more trouble than Shelia.” The disputes preceding their breakup had been a constant irritation, easily provoking her.
Feeling helpless, her assistant asked, “What do we do? We can't let her continue bullying us.”
Alicia reassured her, “Don't worry, I have a plan.” The assistant hesitated, then suggested, “Ms. Bennett, since she smeared feces on your car, should I retaliate?”
Alicia was speechless. The thought of her cars being vandalized filled her with disgust and heartbreak. “Leave it to me,” she replied.
After the assistant left, Ciara arrived. Since the incident, Alicia had limited their professional interaction, maintaining only a friendly relationship.
“You’ve been through so much,” Ciara said with concern. “She hasn’t hurt you, has she?” While Caden remained uninvolved, Ciara was eager to help, though Alicia had already resolved things before Ciara could intervene. Ciara brought gifts to cheer Alicia up.
Alicia greeted her with a smile, downplaying the situation. However, Ciara had another motive. “Alicia, don’t endure this. Let’s work together to solve this once and for all.”
Alicia pursed her lips. She had a plan, but wasn't ready to share it. Sensing this, Ciara asked, “Alicia, do you have a plan?”
Alicia chuckled awkwardly. “I do, but I’m afraid it might scare you.”
Ciara grinned. “Don’t worry. I’m not easily rattled. Raising a troublemaker toughened me up. In fact, I was one myself!”
