Chapter 341:
Sheila's eyes blazed with fury. "Caden, you coward! Kill me!"
Caden stood tense, fighting for control. His gaze remained downcast, swirling with conflicting emotions. Desperate, Sheila crawled to him, seizing his pant leg. "Kill me, Caden! Just kill me!"
Caden pressed his foot down on her hand. Accustomed to comfort, Sheila found the sharp pain unbearable, despite her protests. Her cries subsided under the pressure. Caden tightened his foot and spoke in a chilling tone, "You won't die. You'll keep living. You'll endure such misery that you'll wish for death."
After seeing Alicia off, Caden returned to his company. He removed his shirt, revealing a bright red burn on his arm, the skin nearly raw. The pain was sharp; he closed his eyes to endure it. Hank hurried in with a first-aid kit.
When Caden opened his eyes again, they were clear and focused. His voice was raspy as he instructed, "This injury stays between us. Grandma is too observant. She'd make a big deal out of it."
Hank nodded. "Understood, Mr. Ward."
"And keep this from Alicia as well."
Despite their breakup, Alicia still showed concern for him. Hank was surprised. "Mr. Ward, are you and Ms. Bennett back together?"
Caden responded flatly, "No."
Hank, curious, pressed further. "It's been a while. Are things truly finished between you?"
A brief silence followed. Then, dismissively, Caden said, "Yes."
Hank wondered why Caden would hide his injury from Alicia if their relationship was truly over. Did she still have feelings for him?
After tending to Caden's burn, Hank recalled something important. "Mr. Ward, during Mr. Benson's recent conversation with Mr. Yates, he uncovered details about how Mr. Yates caused the death of Ms. Bennett's parents."
Joshua wasn't responsible for the plane crash itself; it was coincidence. However, Joshua had meddled. He poisoned Phil and Donna before they boarded the plane.
Caden narrowed his eyes and scoffed, remembering, "No wonder he was so desperate to retrieve their bodies from the crash site." Joshua had poisoned them, knowing that discovery of the tainted bodies would make him the prime suspect. Alicia, however, remained unaware of these facts and, moved by Joshua's apparent concern, married him without hesitation.
Hank continued quietly, "Back then, Joshua was constantly using Ms. Bennett's money. When Phil realized this, it led to a major confrontation. During that dispute, Joshua uncovered a secret about Phil."
