Chapter 304:
Then, she smiled and released her grip. Yolanda lifted the showerhead high, soaking Alicia from head to toe. This was far from over. Next, Yolanda swung open the balcony door, forcing Alicia to stand in the biting winter wind, her heavy, wet clothes clinging to her. Snowflakes danced through the air.
Yolanda spoke softly, โMs. Bennett, I wonโt let you stay out in the cold for too long. You can head home in an hour.โ
Meanwhile, Cadenโs car pulled into the driveway. He entered the living room and scanned the area. Alicia was nowhere in sight. Dorianโs expression remained tense.
โWho are you searching for?โ
Caden answered candidly, โDidnโt Alicia come by to apologize? Where is she?โ
โSheโs upstairs,โ Regina replied. โSheโll be down shortly.โ
Caden glanced up toward the staircase. โItโs rather quiet up there.โ
Dorian scoffed, โYolanda can barely manage to speak. How much noise could it possibly make?โ Regina gave Dorianโs arm a reassuring pat, a silent command to stay calm. โSince Alicia came, it seems like things are smoothed over,โ she said. โYolanda seemed pretty happy earlier, so I doubt thereโs any serious conflict between them.โ
A heaviness settled in Cadenโs chest. Something didnโt feel right. โHow long has Alicia been here?โ he asked.
โAbout half an hour,โ Regina replied.
โIsnโt that a bit long for just an apology?โ Caden questioned.
Dorian snapped back, โCaden, donโt start. What could possibly go wrong in thirty minutes?โ
Caden smirked. โYouโre awfully tense, Dorian. Is your blood pressure under control?โ
Dorian was left speechless. Regina chuckled and began peeling an apple, handing out slices to each of them. โChristmas is coming up,โ she said, giving Caden a reassuring pat. โLetโs end it on a peaceful note, shall we? Weโre leaving the day after tomorrow. In the future, during the holidays, Caden, you can visit us in Devarlton. We wonโt be coming here.โ
