Chapter 145

The doctor was momentarily startled. The voice on the other end was remarkably young. "Could he really be Alice's father?" he wondered. His instinct warned him of potential danger, so he proceeded cautiously. "Hello, Mr. Bennett," he said. "How is Mrs. Bennett's foot?"

Caden replied coldly, "Were you the one who treated her foot yesterday?"

"Yes," the doctor confirmed. Alice's beauty was undeniable. Though he knew his chances were slim, he felt compelled to try his luck.

Recognizing the doctor's intentions, Caden replied flatly, "She's perfectly fine."

Taking a risk, the doctor asked, "Mr. Bennett, may I call Mrs. Bennett later? Since she's well, I'd like to invite her to dinner."

Caden paused. His irritation morphed into amusement, and he chuckled. "What do you think?"

The doctor quickly added, "I know it's late, but please don't worry, Mr. Bennett, I promise I'll get you home safely after dinner! I had intended to call earlier, but Mrs. Bennett was recovering from a head injury last night and needed rest this morning. I didn't want to disturb her."

Caden's anger subsided. He remembered Alice's aversion to hospitals. After the incident the previous night, she had gone to the emergency room alone and been deeply shaken, only to face his reproach upon returning home.

He swallowed and ended the call. Alice appeared just then. Seeing him with the phone, she demanded, "Who told you you could touch my things?"

Caden looked at her intently. "I answered a call."

Alice's expression darkened. "How could you answer someone else's phone?"

He unlocked the phone and checked the call log. His guilt vanished when he saw Alice's impatience.

"The ringtone was annoying," he said coldly.

Alice, realizing the call was trivial, let it go. "Why didn't you hang up then?"

Caden scoffed. "If I had, I would have missed all the excitement."

Alice was confused. "What did the doctor say?"

Caden's voice dripped with sarcasm. "What else would a pathetic loser trying to charm you say? His pick-up lines are so clichéd a dog wouldn't fall for them."

Alice was surprised. Couldn't she show a little kindness? Remembering the doctor's handsome appearance from the previous night, she teased, "Why is he such a pathetic loser? He's actually more attractive than you."

Caden gave her a pointed look. "Did you lose your sight along with your balance last night?"

"Am I wrong?" Alice retorted. "You are unattractive and overly sensitive. You really do have it all."

This left Caden speechless. Since she was there, Alice asked, "Where's the evidence you found on Randolph? Give me a copy."

Caden's tone turned icy. "Why would I?"

Alice was stunned. "Why not? Our personal affairs shouldn't interfere with business."

Caden replied coldly, "You closed the door and walked out when I asked you this morning. Wasn't that a clear sign that our agreement was void?"

Alice's expression hardened. "No, those are separate issues."

Caden's demeanor softened slightly. "Fine. If the deal is still active, let's review it thoroughly."

"It's already been amended twice. What else is there to discuss?"

"I wasn't worried about losses before, but now I am. From now on, we have to strictly comply with the terms of the agreement."

He pulled the contract from the drawer and tossed it in front of Alice. He pointed to the most controversial clause: "Sex up to ten times a month. How many times have we been together this month?"

"Only once," Alice answered, her cheeks flushed.

"It was five times, not ten. Have you altered the terms?"

Caden showed no sign of embarrassment. "Originally, the agreement was that you would obey me without question. But after one intense night, you couldn't stand it, so you revised it to ten times a month."

Alice was speechless.

"What I mean is it was supposed to be five times. Let's get to the point," he said.

Caden raised an eyebrow provocatively. "Fifteen times?"

Alice raised her voice, clearly frustrated. "Five times!"

"Oh, yeah?" Caden pointed to a fingerprint on the document. "I could modify the text of the agreement, but could I fake your fingerprint?"

Alice's skepticism increased. She picked up the document and inspected it more closely. Sure enough, it was her fingerprint.

She looked at him, still unconvinced. Caden knew the whole story. She had originally changed it to five times, but after an impromptu intimate moment on the couch, she had changed it to ten. For him, even ten times a month was insufficient. Five times? Unthinkable.

Caden picked up the agreement and put it back in the drawer. "If you acknowledge that the agreement is still valid, I will give you the evidence."

Alice eyed him warily.

"Give me a moment to think," she said.

Caden was in no mood to be patient. "I'll give you three seconds," he declared, checking his watch and counting down with exaggerated seriousness. "Three..."
