Chapter 112
Mrs. Reyes' expression shifted as she pulled Ted closer. "Mr. Ward, he's just a child! He doesn't understand. Please let him go!"
Caden's face remained impassive. “Did I say something?” He smirked. “Why are you so afraid?”
A shiver ran through Mrs. Reyes. Although she didn't know Caden well, their brief interactions had already revealed his decisive and ruthless nature. His earlier, unhesitatingly throwing Ted to the ground after learning of Alicia's injury, had nearly resulted in serious harm. Caden showed no mercy to the children; his order for them to fight felt like personal retribution. He'd mentioned a reward, but Mrs. Reyes sensed something far worse was coming.
Without hesitation, Caden looked at Alicia and said, “For the next half hour, Ted is yours. Do with him whatever you want.”
Understanding the implication, elation washed over Alicia, momentarily eclipsing the pain of her wounds. Caden had opened a door, and she wouldn't let this brat escape unscathed. She immediately summoned two servants.
Seeing her pleas were futile, Mrs. Reyes' demeanor hardened. “What right do you have to treat Ted like that? I made a mistake, a child's mistake. He doesn't know any better, and neither do you. Harming children is against the law.”
Caden leaned back, unfazed.
Alicia smirked. "Isn't it illegal to attempt murder? He may be a minor, but that doesn't change the fact that he tried to kill me. If we take legal action, both you and your husband will face the consequences." She continued, "Do you really want this to go further? We can involve the police. I'll cooperate fully and share the whole story with the media. Everyone will know how Ted hurt me. I'm sure Mr. Reyes will appreciate you raising such a 'tough' son, and the entire Reyes family will be proud of you."
Mrs. Reyes' legs trembled; she nearly collapsed. She didn't want Ted harmed, but feared the consequences of a scene. Exposure to the Reyes family would ruin her life.
Her voice shaking, she confessed, “Mrs. Bennett, I'm so sorry. This is all my fault. I disliked you, so I told Ted to make things difficult. I didn't intend to hurt you so severely.”
Alicia remained impassive. She had just faced a near-fatal attack. Did Mrs. Reyes truly believe a simple apology could erase it?
“Rest assured, Mrs. Reyes,” Alicia said firmly, “once Ted enters society, you will find yourself on your knees frequently.”
Mrs. Reyes realized she was kneeling. She tried to rise, but her weakened legs failed her.
Alicia instructed the servants to bring a basin of water, placing it on a waist-high table. Ted, unable to control himself, also called for help from two servants. Sensing danger, he struggled and resisted. The servants held him firmly.
Mrs. Reyes warned sternly, “If you dare touch Ted, you will regret it!”
Fear caused the servants to loosen their grip. Alicia, realizing she shouldn't involve them further, turned to Caden. “Can you record Ted for me?”
Caden replied coldly, “I’m busy.”
