Chapter 432

Maisie walked up to Nova and looked at her haughtily, her eyes full of disdain. โ€œHow dare a mute enchant the King? Youโ€™re courting death.โ€

She gently raised her hand, and two maids immediately stepped forward, dragged Nova over, and forced her to kneel on the ground.

โ€œYou canโ€™t treat Nova like this,โ€ the nanny cried out anxiously.

But Maisieโ€™s confidant kicked her in the chest.

The nanny cried out in pain and fell to the ground, spitting out blood.

Seeing this, Nova shook her head repeatedly in panic. She gestured with her hands, her eyes full of pleading. Donโ€™t hit the nanny.

Her face was covered in tears, making her look extremely pitiful. She had once been nothing but a mute shadow, yet now she had clawed her way into the heights of power. Burning with jealousy, Maisie slapped Nova hard across the face.

Her sharp nails instantly scratched Novaโ€™s face. Nova covered her face and fell to the ground, her features contorted in pain because she could not speak.

โ€œYou lowly thing, youโ€™re not fit to be a consort.โ€ Maisie raised her foot and stomped hard on Novaโ€™s hand, grinding it forcefully. โ€œNow Iโ€™ll break your fingers and see how you can still seduce the King.โ€

She pressed down relentlessly, crushing Novaโ€™s fingers into a bloody pulp. Maisie felt extremely satisfied as she watched Novaโ€™s face contorted in pain.

Her eyes fell on the embroidery frame nearby, and Maisie picked up scissors and shredded the embroidery to pieces. Still not appeased, she kicked the embroidery frame to splinters with a fierce kick.

Nova whimpered, shaking her head incessantly. But Maisie did not stop, instead throwing the embroidery frame out of the hall.

With a crash, the embroidery frame fell apart. At the same time, a royal attendantโ€™s high-pitched voice came from outside. โ€œThe King has arrived.โ€

Maisie turned pale, with panic in her eyes.

Maisie asked, โ€œYour Majesty, why is the King back? Didnโ€™t he leave the palace?โ€

If she hadnโ€™t known beforehand that Ray had left the palace, even if Maisie had ten times the courage, she wouldnโ€™t have dared to do this. A black figure rushed into the room from outside the door, and Ray walked in with a cold face.

His cold gaze swept lightly across the hall. He saw Nova lying on the ground, her fingers bloody and mangled. Maisie turned pale, her eyes full of panic.

Her legs went weak, and she knelt on the ground. โ€œYour Majesty.โ€

Before Ray could ask, she burst into tears, โ€œYour Majesty, itโ€™s all my fault. I wanted to get closer to Nova, but I didnโ€™t expect her to fall and hurt her hand. Itโ€™s all my fault. Please punish me.โ€

Rayโ€™s gaze fell on Novaโ€™s face, noticing her pale complexion and the bright red finger marks on her face. A bloody mark cut across her face.

When he saw the bloody mark, Rayโ€™s expression changed drastically. He nervously stepped forward, picked up Nova, and his voice changed with anxiety, โ€œSummon the imperial physician, quickly summon the imperial physician.โ€

Ray walked out carrying Nova in his arms. From beginning to end, he ignored Maisie and said nothing about punishing Maisie.

The imperial physician quickly arrived at the Grand Sanctum, and Ray asked the imperial physician with a cold and sharp expression, โ€œWill the injury on Novaโ€™s face leave a scar?โ€

The imperial physician stepped forward and carefully examined Novaโ€™s injury. Then, nervously facing Ray, he cupped his hands and said, โ€œIn response to the King, the Consort Novaโ€™s injury is on her face, and if it is not properly cared for, it is very likely to leave a scar.โ€

โ€œI command you to heal Novaโ€™s face no matter what. Her face must not be scarred,โ€ Ray said, as if squeezing each word out from between his teeth. His gloomy expression made the imperial doctor tremble.

โ€œYes, Your Majesty.โ€

Ray left quietly after Nova took the medicine and fell asleep. Ray walked out of the hall and said softly to the royal attendant. โ€œGo and call Maisie over.โ€

The royal attendant glanced at his gloomy face, his heart pounding.

Maisie has offended Ray, and I am afraid she will not escape this disaster. The royal attendant went away uneasily. Before long, Maisie was brought before Ray.

He sat on the chair, holding a glass of wine in his hand, sipping it lightly. Yet, this leisurely appearance made Maisie break out in a cold sweat.

She knelt on the ground and crawled a few steps toward Ray, crying, โ€œYour Majesty, I was wrong.โ€

Maisie kept kowtowing to Ray until her forehead bled, then Ray finally glanced at her.

โ€œMaisie, why are you so panicked?โ€ Ray asked.

Maisie paused her kowtowing and looked at Ray in confusion.

Could it be that he wasnโ€™t here to punish me? she thought. But he had a smile on his face, and didnโ€™t look like he was going to fight or kill.

Could it be that I have misunderstood? she thought.

Maisie swallowed and stammered, โ€œYour Majesty, are you no longer angry with me?โ€

โ€œHow could I be?โ€ Ray chuckled, his eyes full of affection. โ€œYou are my favorite concubine. How could I punish you for making a small mistake?โ€

As he spoke, he gazed deeply into Maisieโ€™s eyes. He initially favored Maisie because of those eyes because those eyes were exactly the same as Athenaโ€™s.

Ray walked up to Maisie and couldnโ€™t help but reach out to caress her eyes. Maisie was both excited and fearful, not daring to imagine that Ray would not punish her.

But in the next second, Rayโ€™s voice sent chills down her spine. โ€œMaisie, if I want something, would you give it to me?โ€

โ€œYour Majesty, as long as youโ€™re not angry with me, Iโ€™ll do anything.โ€ Maisie boldly embraced Ray, her heart filled with emotion. She shyly looked up and smiled at Ray. โ€œI adore you.โ€

โ€œThen I want those eyes of yours.โ€

Maisie seemed not to understand Rayโ€™s words and chuckled. โ€œYouโ€™re joking again. The eyes are on my face. How can I give them to Your Majestyโ€ฆโ€

Speaking of this, she shuddered and looked at Ray with horror.

Ray had already pushed her away at some point. Several royal attendants behind her immediately held Maisie down. โ€œWhat do you want to do to me?โ€

โ€œI like your eyes, but I donโ€™t like your nose and mouth, or your brain. Naturally, Iโ€™ll only keep the parts I like.โ€ Ray smiled softly, then waved his hand, signaling the royal attendants to take action.

Maisie turned pale with fright, her hands and feet weakened. When she saw the royal attendant walking towards her with a dagger.

She struggled violently. โ€œYou canโ€™t treat me like this. My brother is your great general.โ€

Maisieโ€™s shrill voice made Ray frown. Upon seeing this, the royal attendant winked at the two young eunuchs. The two held Maisie down tightly, and the royal attendant picked up a dagger from the tray and gouged it fiercely into Maisieโ€™s eyes.

Screams echoed through the hall as Maisie writhed on the floor.

Her eyes were presented on a tray and handed to Ray. Ray glanced at them indifferently, shaking his head in disappointment, โ€œWhy do they not resemble hers? Throw them out and feed them to the dogs.โ€
