Chapter 965
After drinking and singing, neither Austin nor Hank felt the slightest bit sleepy. They decided to have another round of drinks.
โIโve rescheduled tomorrowโs daytime activities, but the evening ones are non-negotiable. Check the schedule for any issues,โ Hank said, handing Austin the plans.
Austin quickly skimmed the schedule. โEverything looks good. Weโll stick to this.โ
โThereโs an interview after the event. Just be yourself; those small interviews are easy for you,โ Hank said, confident in Austinโs abilities. Heโd been confident for years, yet remained uneasy about Austinโs romantic entanglements.
โNatalie seemed oblivious today. Doesnโt she realize your feelings?โ Hank was exasperated by Natalieโs lack of awareness.
Austinโs expression darkened. โSheโs just emerged from a difficult situation with Jeremy. Itโs understandable that sheโs guarded. Maybe sheโll come around.โ
โSpeaking of Jeremy, I get the feeling heโs still hung up on Natalie, but heโs hard to read,โ Hank frowned. He worried that even if Natalie reciprocated Austinโs feelings, Jeremy would intervene.
Austin gave a noncommittal hum.
Hank raised an eyebrow. He was fretting about Jeremyโs potential actions, while Austin seemed unconcerned. He glanced around the opulent mansion. "This place isn't something money can easily buy," he mused. "Austin, after all these years, tell me straightโwho are you?"
Austin gave him a cool glance. โIโm your meal ticket.โ
Hank muttered a curse and said, โIโm going to bed.โ
The next day, Natalie and Skylar woke at 11:00 a.m. Skylar had a headache.
โYou too? Mineโs terrible! I knew I shouldnโt have drunk so much. It always gives me a headache,โ Natalie complained, adding that she could eat anything but shouldn't drink.
โMe too. Drink some water; it might help,โ Skylar offered Natalie a glass.
They both sipped slowly. After ten minutes, their headaches eased.
The mansionโs chef had prepared a lavish breakfast featuring Floan and Wiscadian cuisines, beautifully presented and aromatic. Skylar was ravenous.
โThese pancakes are incredible! Iโve been craving them since Jipsburg. Theyโre even better here!โ Natalie enthused.
Skylar tried one. โTheyโre delicious.โ
โWe had them make extra today,โ Austin said softly.
Hank had already finished two pancakes and a large bowl of chicken soup. โThis is the best! Itโs just too far from the set; otherwise, Iโd eat here every day.โ
โMe too,โ Natalie agreed, nodding eagerly.
As they chatted, Natalieโs phone rang. She saw Jeremyโs name and her smile vanished. Skylar noticed the immediate change in her expression.
