Chapter 59

"Are you telling the truth?" Sadie asked.

"Why would I lie, Mom? You've seen the videos. Christopher was the one who kissed me," Maisy said, biting her lip and maintaining an innocent expression.

"It was just two videos. They don't prove anything," Sadie mused. "And they don't show what you were talking about. So, it's up to you how you want to explain things."

"Did Skylar think she could turn the tables by sending the videos to you? No way!" Maisy exclaimed.

Sadie breathed a sigh of relief. "That's good to know, then."

"Mom, I'm sure Skylar hates me. She loves Christopher, but he likes me instead. That's why she tried to ruin me," Maisy said, looking sad and miserable. "Now that she sent these videos, she surely won't post her apology online."

Sadie sighed helplessly. "You're also a victim. Christopher is the one to blame. As for Skylar's apology, I'll talk to her about it. After all, this happened because of her. If she hadn't gotten involved with that man, none of this would have happened."

A twinkle appeared in Maisy's eyes. "Would Skylar still be willing to apologize?" she asked hesitantly. "Why do I feel like Skylar is completely out of my control?"

She continued, "She didn't go to the hospital to donate blood, she didn't listen to Christopher, and she didn't come home. I'm really curious where she's been staying. I don't like feeling out of control. I have to trample on Skylar."

Sadie frowned, impatient at the mention of Skylar. "It's not about whether or not she wants to apologize. She has no choice."

At the rented home, Christopher's eyes were fixed on his phone. He had been waiting for Maisy's reply for a few minutes. He looked at the half-edited statement on his phone, then briefly checked the internet comments. They were all cursing Skylar and waiting for his statement. Giving a statement would solidify Skylar's image as an evil person.

Skylar's indifference toward him came to mind. She wasn't as easy to coax as she used to be. He took a deep breath. If he remained by her side after she was cornered, perhaps she would never leave him again.

Suddenly, Maisy called. He answered immediately.

"I want you to give your statement now, Christopher. Post it immediately. Did you know Skylar has videos of us kissing at the mall?"

Christopher was shocked. "What? She even has videos? Wouldn't our lies be exposed if she posted them? I'll give my statement now." He suddenly realized why Skylar had become indifferent—she'd discovered his affair with Maisy.

Maisy rolled her eyes. "She won't be able to post anything. PR is all about timing. We've reported her account, so she can't post anything right now, not even the videos. Even if she could post again in a few days, we'll be in control. We can get someone to edit the videos, and she can't use them against us anymore. Did you think my family hired the PR and legal teams just to mess around?"

Christopher remained worried. "Your parents are her biological parents. Could they bear to see everyone scolding her?"

The words "biological parents" struck Maisy. Her face twisted.

"So what if they're her biological parents? I'm the most important person to them. Skylar is nothing. Do you still not get this?"

Christopher was convinced. "Okay, I'll post my statement now."
