Chapter 322
Steven had just clocked in for work and was about to sit down when Kenny approached, looking worn out. Steven disliked Kenny.
โWhat do you want?โ Steven asked, glancing up.
Kennyโs eyes were bloodshot, indicating a sleepless night.
โIโve taken a leave of absence. Starting today, Iโll work every other day,โ Kenny announced.
Stevenโs patience was wearing thin. โWhy do I need to know this?โ
โOf course you do! My mother was in a car accident and had her legs amputated. Sheโs bedridden and needs constant care. But Skylar only came to the hospital on the day of the surgery and then vanished. We canโt reach her,โ Kenny said, his voice rising in frustration.
Steven was taken aback. โYour family issues arenโt my concern.โ
โHow is it not? Skylar is your sister, my motherโs biological daughter. She should be caring for her, but she disappeared without a word,โ Kenny said, his frown deepening.
Steven sneered. โYouโve never treated Skylar like family. Now that thereโs trouble, you want to guilt-trip her? Do you have the right? Itโs your and your siblingsโ responsibility to care for your mother. If Skylar chooses to help, itโs out of kindness. If she doesnโt, itโs perfectly reasonable.โ
โBut we all have jobs and canโt spare the time. Only Skylarโโ Kenny began to argue.
Stevenโs expression turned grim at Kennyโs brazen entitlement. He continued, โSkylar has a better job than any of you. Just because your family is out of touch with reality, donโt assume everyone else is. If you have nothing else to say, I have work to do.โ
Kenny instinctively denied, โShe canโt possibly compareโโ He stopped short, realizing the truth. The Williamses had always seen Skylar as inferior, dismissing her contributions as insignificant.
This realization hit Kenny hard. His muscles tensed. Stiffly, he turned and left.
Steven watched him go with a cold expression. โShameless.โ
Chapter 322
He knew Skylar was on vacation and felt even more protective of her, knowing the Williams familyโs despicable intentions.
The next morning, Skylar woke up after ten oโclock; Joe had already left. After showering and dressing, she found her phone on the floor. Joe had left a message: Heโd left at 7:00 a.m. and instructed her to call the hotel butler for breakfast. Heโd also arranged for Paul to accompany her today, emphasizing that it wasnโt safe for a woman to travel alone.
Skylar sighed. Fine.
After breakfast, Paul knocked, holding a printed itinerary. โMs. Sullivan, Iโve prepared an itinerary with detailed descriptions. Please choose a schedule,โ he said.
Skylar was impressed. โSuch professionalism!โ
โThank you. I have a knack for making sure everything goes perfectly,โ Paul said proudly. Joe had instructed him to ensure Skylar had a great time. They spent the day visiting several places. Paul even used a professional camera and took stunning photos.
Skylar praised him again. โThese are amazing.โ Paulโs skills were impressive; even Joe would acknowledge his mastery of photography. At dinner, they discussed their plans for the next day.
