Chapter 51: Just a Lie

โ€œWho was it? Who sneaked up on me?โ€ Steven roared, pulling out his toothpick. Despite his taunting tone, he was genuinely worried. His Impenetrable Skill was renowned; no one had ever harmed him before. Yet, someone had just casually stabbed him with a toothpick! The presence of such a skilled opponent shocked him.

Everyone exchanged glances. No one confessed. Only Tommy stared at Jared with undisguised admiration.

โ€œIt was me!โ€ Jared stepped forward.

Stevenโ€™s brows furrowed in disbelief. โ€œYou? This young manโ€ฆ how is he so strong?โ€

Josephine rushed to Jaredโ€™s side, pulling him back. โ€œJared! What are you doing? Donโ€™t try to be a hero! It wasnโ€™t you.โ€

Tommy intervened. โ€œMs. Sullivan, Mr. Chance will be fine. Donโ€™t worry!โ€

Steven sneered. โ€œHey, kiddo, sticking up for him? That kind of confidence will get you killed!โ€

Jaredโ€™s expression remained impassive. โ€œCut the crap. Iโ€™m busy.โ€

A faint, almost invisible mistโ€”atmospheric spiritual energy forming a protective shieldโ€”surrounded Jared. Except for Josephine, no one tried to stop him; they all wanted to witness Jared's capabilities and understand Walterโ€™s respect for him.

โ€œWell, you asked for it!โ€ Stevenโ€™s eyes gleamed.

He dashed forward, appearing before Jared in an instant and throwing a punch. Jared remained motionless, calmly watching.

Josephine cried out, โ€œDonโ€™t!โ€

But Stevenโ€™s powerful punch landed squarely on Jaredโ€™s chest.

Bam!

The force should have killed Jared, a man barely over a hundred pounds. Instead, Stevenโ€™s arm bent at an unnatural angle, the bone snapping from the recoil. He howled in agony.

โ€œYouโ€ฆ you know the Impenetrable Skill, too?โ€ Steven was stunned.

Jared sneered. โ€œJust a little.โ€

No one believed him. If even Steven couldn't penetrate it, Jared couldnโ€™t possibly know only a little of the skill. Josephine stared, her admiration for Jared soaring.

โ€œWho taught you? Itโ€™s my mentor, Francis Yanceyโ€™s unique skill!โ€ Steven demanded, desperate for answers.

Jared smirked. โ€œIโ€™m not from any school or sect. Besides, thereโ€™s no such thing as an Impenetrable Skill. Itโ€™s a lie, a trick.โ€ He punched Steven in the chest, sending him flying backward, coughing up blood.

Jared didnโ€™t possess the Impenetrable Skill. His technique, honed in martial and mystical arts, created a shield impenetrable even to bullets, let alone Stevenโ€™s punch.
