Chapter 51: Just a Lie
โWho was it? Who sneaked up on me?โ Steven roared, pulling out his toothpick. Despite his taunting tone, he was genuinely worried. His Impenetrable Skill was renowned; no one had ever harmed him before. Yet, someone had just casually stabbed him with a toothpick! The presence of such a skilled opponent shocked him.
Everyone exchanged glances. No one confessed. Only Tommy stared at Jared with undisguised admiration.
โIt was me!โ Jared stepped forward.
Stevenโs brows furrowed in disbelief. โYou? This young manโฆ how is he so strong?โ
Josephine rushed to Jaredโs side, pulling him back. โJared! What are you doing? Donโt try to be a hero! It wasnโt you.โ
Tommy intervened. โMs. Sullivan, Mr. Chance will be fine. Donโt worry!โ
Steven sneered. โHey, kiddo, sticking up for him? That kind of confidence will get you killed!โ
Jaredโs expression remained impassive. โCut the crap. Iโm busy.โ
A faint, almost invisible mistโatmospheric spiritual energy forming a protective shieldโsurrounded Jared. Except for Josephine, no one tried to stop him; they all wanted to witness Jared's capabilities and understand Walterโs respect for him.
โWell, you asked for it!โ Stevenโs eyes gleamed.
He dashed forward, appearing before Jared in an instant and throwing a punch. Jared remained motionless, calmly watching.
Josephine cried out, โDonโt!โ
But Stevenโs powerful punch landed squarely on Jaredโs chest.
Bam!
The force should have killed Jared, a man barely over a hundred pounds. Instead, Stevenโs arm bent at an unnatural angle, the bone snapping from the recoil. He howled in agony.
โYouโฆ you know the Impenetrable Skill, too?โ Steven was stunned.
Jared sneered. โJust a little.โ
No one believed him. If even Steven couldn't penetrate it, Jared couldnโt possibly know only a little of the skill. Josephine stared, her admiration for Jared soaring.
โWho taught you? Itโs my mentor, Francis Yanceyโs unique skill!โ Steven demanded, desperate for answers.
Jared smirked. โIโm not from any school or sect. Besides, thereโs no such thing as an Impenetrable Skill. Itโs a lie, a trick.โ He punched Steven in the chest, sending him flying backward, coughing up blood.
Jared didnโt possess the Impenetrable Skill. His technique, honed in martial and mystical arts, created a shield impenetrable even to bullets, let alone Stevenโs punch.
