Chapter 375: Leader
"Don't worry, Mr. Chance. I know what to do," Phoenix responded confidently. She didn't understand Jared's meaning, and he offered no further explanation, focusing instead on the Jantz family. He wouldn't tolerate underhanded tactics.
Luke, a fellow member of the Warriors Alliance, loudly announced the start of the fight in the arena: "Thank you all for participating. In the Warriors Alliance, unresolved disputes are settled here, with fists. However, there is no mercy. Injury or death will not be grounds for complaint. That is the rule of the arena!"
He continued, "Today, the Jantz family and the Phoenix Regiment dispute the Whitaker family's property. Zachariah and Phoenix will fight, and the victor will decide the matter. Now, let's welcome our fighters!"
Just as Luke finished, Zachariah leaped into the arena. "Hang on!"
"What is it, Zach?" Luke asked.
Zachariah nodded, glancing at the crowd. In a deep voice, he declared, "This battle isn't just about the Whitaker property. The Warriors Alliance has existed for over ten years without a leader, hindering its growth. I seize this opportunity to claim that leadership. Anyone who disagrees, challenge me in the arena!"
The audience gasped, murmuring among themselves.
Bane rose from his seat, his expression grim. "Zachariah, what is the meaning of this?" He would never accept Zachariah as leader; the Schmidt family's standing would be jeopardized.
Luke's expression mirrored Bane's anger. He turned to Zachariah. "Zach, the four of us have peacefully managed the Alliance for years. Your sudden bid for leadership is greed. Fail, and you lose your current status!"
Phoenix also rose, leaping into the arena. She launched into a verbal assault. "Zachariah, you talk big! Look in the mirror. Are you even qualified to lead?"
Zachariah faced accusations from three families but remained unfazed, a sinister smile playing on his lips. "I said it. Disagreements are settled with fists, not words."
The audience buzzed with speculation. "What's gotten into Zachariah? He's challenging three families alone!" "Did he gain some miraculous power? Can the Jantz family even compare?" "What a day! The Warriors Alliance might be unrecognizable tomorrow!"
Bane declared, "Zachariah, I, Bane Schmidt, challenge you!" He adopted a fighting stance. He'd initially planned to observe, but Zachariah's audacious claim to the entire Alliance, including leadership, was unacceptable. As an Internal Energy Grandmaster, his strength was considerableโone of the Alliance's top four elites.
Zachariah gave Bane a cold, arrogant glance. "Don't do this, Bane. You can't defeat me."
Bane's face burned with fury. "We'll see! Bring it on, Zachariah!" He unleashed an overwhelming burst of aura that engulfed the arena.
