Chapter 35: Vengeful Dragons
"There is!" Jared nodded. "All I need to do is extract the Dragon Throne's hatred and destroy the vengeful dragons."
Walter was ecstatic. "In that case, Mr. Chance, please proceed!"
"Why should I help you? In your eyes, I'm nothing but a fraud," Jared sneered.
Remorse filled Walter immediately. "Mr. Chance, I apologize. I was mistaken and offended you. Please forgive me and save my life!" he pleaded sincerely.
Tommy interjected, "Mr. Chance, Mr. Grange didn't mean to insult you. Helping him would benefit us in the future."
Tommy's intention was clear: Walter's influence could aid the Templar Regiment's expansion in Horington. Therefore, helping Walter would indirectly benefit the Dragon Sect.
"Going forward, I'll be at your service," Walter quickly declared.
Jared nodded. "Fine, I'll help you destroy the dragons."
Jared approached the Dragon Throne and pressed a dragon's head. A faint golden hue emanated from the carving, followed by agonizing dragon roars.
Tommy and Walter watched in astonishment. Illuminated by the golden light, the nine dragons rose into the sky, their bodies emitting black mist as they glared furiously at Jared.
The black mist quickly enveloped the hall, making it difficult for Tommy and Walter to breathe. Simultaneously, the ancient trees outside swayed violently, despite the absence of any wind.
Tommy and Walter gaped, stupefied by the giant dragons. Walter, drenched in sweat, trembled at the thought of having sat atop demonic creatures daily.
"Hatred-induced dragons, begone!"
Jared's expression remained calm. With a flick of his wrists, golden rays pierced the dragons.
The dragons roared in desperation, morphing into balls of black mist that flew toward Jared. He inhaled deeply, drawing the mist into his stomach.
Peace returned to the hall.
Draco's Focus Technique is amazing! It can absorb and cultivate energy from hatred! Jared thought, delighted. The technique could absorb hatred and anger, increasing his strength. He felt his power surge after absorbing the energy.
After recovering from his shock, Walter bowed deeply. "Thank you, Mr. Chance, for saving my life. I'll never forget this!"
"Don't mention it. It was self-serving," Jared dismissed with a wave of his hand. The energy gained exceeded half a month's worth of normal cultivation.
Walter, slightly surprised, didn't question Jared further, understanding the incomprehensibility of the supernatural world to laymen.
Turning to the Dragon Throne, Walter cautiously asked, "Mr. Chance, about the throneโฆ"
"It's now an ordinary chair," Jared said, looking at the trees outside. "Its only use was satisfying your ego. However, you must carefully tend to the villa's old trees; they are key to your longevity."
He regretted that the trees couldn't be transplanted; their spiritual energy would have aided his training. He would have moved them to Dragon Bay if possible.
