Chapter 292: Fulfill Your Wish
Jared had spent the afternoon with Josephine at the Sullivan residence. She was in good spirits, though she occasionally alluded to the time Jared killed Leyton.
During dinner, a servant whispered to William, who visibly paled.
"What's wrong, Dad?" Josephine asked.
"Nothing," William replied, standing. "Just some business matters. Jared, please stay the night. I don't know when I'll be back, and I'm asking you to look after Josephine."
Josephine's face flushed. "Dad!"
"Don't worry, Mr. Sullivan," Jared assured him. "I'll take good care of Josephine."
A chilling coldness enveloped William as he left the house. "Gather all the bodyguards, and follow me!"
Over twenty bodyguards accompanied him to the Glamor Hotel. Kane was in a private room, enjoying coffee, while several bodyguards lay incapacitated outside his door.
William's rage intensified at the sight of his groaning men.
"If you're unsatisfied with their service, Mr. Whitaker," William said coldly, "you could have simply told me. There was no need for violence."
Kane sneered. "You should be grateful I didn't kill them. My son's leg is broken. Give me the man responsible, and I'll spare the Sullivan family."
"Your son kidnapped my daughter!" William responded calmly. "You should be grateful I only broke his leg! Remember, this is Horington, not Summerbank!"
William had planned to take full responsibility to protect Jared from the Whitaker family's considerable power. He knew Jared wouldn't survive their wrath.
"Hahaha! So what if it's Horington? I can still crush you," Kane scoffed, rising. "You think I don't know who broke my son's leg? I'm giving you a chance. Don't blame me if you don't take it."
"I told you, your son kidnapped my daughter! I only broke his leg! If you want revenge, come at me!" William gritted his teeth.
"Very well! If you want to die, I'll fulfill your wish!" Kane's men immediately attacked.
William's outnumbered bodyguards fought bravely, but within minutes, they were all incapacitated, moaning in pain. Kane's men were unharmed. The disparity in skill was stark.
William's face darkened, his body trembling, but he stood firm.
"I won't repeat myself! Hand over the man who broke my son's leg!" Kane sneered.
"I broke your son's leg!" William declared. "If you want revenge, kill me!" He would not betray Jared.
