Chapter 245: Misfortune

"No, that's not it," William shook his head, turning to Jared. "Apologize to Mr. Lowe first, Jared."

Jared had been impressed by Glen, believing him to be a righteous government official. After meeting his parents, however, Jared seriously questioned whether Frederick was an adopted son.

"I went too far yesterday when I broke your son's wrist, Mr. Lowe," Jared said impassively. "However, it's not a permanent injury; his wrist will be fully functional."

His apology was halfhearted; he felt no genuine remorse. His amiability stemmed solely from his respect for Glen as a government official.

Glen and Helen frowned upon hearing about Frederick's broken wrist.

William immediately explained the previous day's events, including Frederick's aggressive behavior toward Josephine in front of others.

Glen flushed with fury and looked at Helen. "Has that rascal returned home?"

"No, he hasn't been back since yesterday," she replied, shaking her head.

Glen clenched his teeth, then roared, "I'll break that rascal's legs the moment he returns home!"

He immediately called his chauffeur.

The chauffeur arrived quickly, bewildered to find William and Jared in the house.

"You asked for me, Mr. Lowe?" he asked, trembling.

Glen asked sternly, "Sebastian, did that rascal use my car yesterday?"

"N-noโ€ฆ" Sebastian stammered, unable to finish a sentence.

Bam! Glen slammed the table. "Spill the truth!"

The chauffeur shuddered violently. "Yes, he did use your car!"

Glen trembled with rage. "Didn't I tell you not to let him use my car? It's not his car! It belongs to the government! How could you let him use it as he pleases? Do you want to get fired?"

Sebastian, terrified and close to tears, was speechless.

Helen rushed to Glen's side. "Calm down, Glen. You'll get sick again! I'll talk to Fred. Shouldn't we find out where he is first, considering his broken wrist?"

"What for? Let him die on the streets!" Glen's chest heaved with rage. "That rascal will ruin my legacy sooner or later!"

Helen patted his back, then turned to Sebastian. "Do you know where Fred is?"

"Mr. Lowe is at the hospital. They reattached his wrist, but I believe he's contacting people for revenge," Sebastian admitted, abandoning his attempts to cover for Frederick.

Glen leaped to his feet. "That rascal dares to seek revenge? Get him here instantly! If he refuses to come back, he's never allowed home again!"

Sebastian nodded and hurried away.

William quickly advised, "Mr. Lowe, Fred is still young. Don't be too hard on him."

Glen sighed. "Sullivan, this is so embarrassing. It's our family's misfortune to have such a useless son."

He turned shamefully to Jared. "I'm sorry you had to witness this, young man. I'm ashamed of my disobedient son. He deserves punishment, and I don't blame you. We've failed as parents!"
