Chapter 117: Bentley
Soon after, Tommy and Jared arrived at the entrance of Vintage Restaurant. Tommy exited the car and opened the door for Jared. "My Lord, I'll wait for you here. If anything happens, I'll be right there."
Jared waved dismissively. "That's unnecessary. You can go."
Tommy nodded and returned to the car.
Just as Tommy left, Maria arrived in her red BMW, with Hilda as a passenger. They had arrived earlier, having left before everyone else.
"Jared, did you come here in that Bentley?" Maria was surprised. Although she had seen him getting out of it, she still couldn't believe it.
Jared nodded slightly.
"You came in a Bentley, Jared? If I'd known, I would have followed you! I've never even been in a Bentley before!" Hilda exclaimed excitedly.
Realizing she might have offended Maria, she added awkwardly, "Maria, no offense! Your car is just as nice!"
"Oh, it's okay. Don't worry about it," Maria replied, unbothered; she knew Hilda meant well. What did bother her was the Bentley.
"Jared, whose Bentley is that?" she asked.
"A friend's," he replied nonchalantly.
"You have a friend who can afford a Bentley?" Maria was puzzled. In a small city like Horington, only a handful of people could afford a multi-million-dollar car.
Before Jared could answer, Zayne and the others arrived. They gasped at the sight of the majestic Vintage Restaurant.
"Troy, park your lousy car somewhere else before you embarrass us!" Zayne barked.
Feeling helpless, Troy moved his car. Zayne and the others then approached Vintage Restaurant with smug expressions.
At the entrance, everyone was surprised to see Maria and Jared.
"Jared? How did you get here so fast?" Zayne was incredulous.
"I told you I'd get here before you, didn't I?" Jared grinned at Zayne's surprised expression.
The others were equally confused; they'd all passed Jared at the office.
"Did you fly here, Jared?"
"You must have taken a shortcut!"
"That's creepy! I didn't see you pass me!"
They all stared at Jared in disbelief.
"Jared got here in a Bentley!" Hilda announced proudly.
Unsurprisingly, no one believed her. Zayne scoffed, "Jared in a Bentley? He's too poor to even know what one looks like! He probably took a taxi shortcut and is shamelessly claiming he arrived in a Bentley!"
"It's true! Maria saw it too!" Hilda defended Jared.
Jared remained unconcerned, seeing no need to explain such a trivial matter.
Everyone turned to Maria. Zayne asked, "Maria, is it true? Did Jared really arrive in a Bentley?"
Maria nodded. "I saw him get out of a Bentley."
