Chapter 68

“Anthony’s company is doing quite well, regularly producing hit games. Even my dad is envious and asked if he could poach the entire company,” Heidi said with a smile.

“Please thank Mr. Brown for his kindness. If the company ever falters, I’ll visit him personally,” Anthony replied lightly.

Melody felt genuinely happy for Anthony. His dreams from long ago had finally come true.

“By the way, I have to thank Melody. She’s the one who secured the ten-million-dollar angel investment,” he added, looking at Melody.

“Is Mel really that impressive? Why did she never mention it?” Heidi asked, surprised.

“She left for abroad after securing the investment. I was really touched and even wanted to make her a shareholder, but she left suddenly,” Anthony sighed.

Melody’s thoughts drifted back to years ago. At that time, she had planned to start a business with Anthony, but fate had other plans. She gave up her career for love and became a “nanny,” trapped in a cage.

“Angel investment? Why did Mel become a shareholder and get dividends?” Heidi pointed out the key detail.

“Because the angel investment later turned into a personal investment; the dividends were split 50-50 between Melody and me,” Anthony explained.

“My goodness! Did you meet a rich man with deep pockets?” she asked in astonishment.

“It was Mr. Fuller Senior,” he replied. “A person in his position certainly doesn’t lack money. A casual ten million dollars for a private investment is nothing to him.”

At the mention of the name “Fuller,” Melody instinctively grew alert, carefully watching Heidi and Anthony’s expressions, worried they might draw conclusions.

“Mel, when did you get so close to Mr. Fuller Senior?” Heidi asked.

Melody smiled and was about to devise an excuse when Anthony spoke up. “I led a competition team then, and Melody was my deputy. Mr. Fuller Senior was one of the judges.”

“That’s right. Over time, I got to know him. As for the investment, it was because he assessed that our startup had great potential, so he invested,” Melody added. “Why didn’t he just make it an angel investment? Why did he turn it into a personal investment and split the dividends with you?” Heidi pressed.

Melody pressed her lips together. Although Daniel initially wanted to give her the entire share, she declined and insisted on a 50-50 split.

“Why are you avoiding the question? Could it be that you’re…” Heidi narrowed her eyes and paused mid-sentence.

Melody tensed, her body stiffening as she looked at Heidi.

“You’re not Mr. Fuller Senior’s long-lost granddaughter, are you? Otherwise, why would he be so generous?” Heidi asked.

Melody breathed a sigh of relief. At least she didn’t say “granddaughter-in-law,” she thought.

“That’s not the case. But Mr. Fuller Senior is kind-hearted and generous. The angel investment went through official channels, while the personal investment went through private ones, so the funds came in faster,” she explained. “And as Anthony said, ten million dollars is like pocket change to someone of his status.”

Heidi seemed to understand, recalling that Anthony’s team had been exceptional in competitions, almost always winning.

As the three continued chatting, Melody suddenly heard a waiter’s voice near the door.

“Sir, do you have a reservation?”

“Yes. Table 8,” a male voice responded. The familiarity of the voice sent a chill down her spine, and her body trembled. The world was too small, and Jardver even smaller. Not only had she heard gossip about Christopher that morning, but now she was running into him in the same restaurant.

She absolutely couldn’t let him see her.
