Chapter 1
“Tom, you can leave. Make sure the trending news is taken down,” Christopher said.
Ryan paled, feeling incredulous, but quickly nodded in relief. “I gesture… this will never happen again,” he promised.
“I don’t need to arrange night shifts for the stall. I’ll handle my personal matters myself,” Christopher said indifferently.
Ryan left, and Sheldon was about to follow but was stopped by Christopher. “Have you found the apartments I asked you to look for?” Christopher inquired.
“We’ve shortlisted five. We can finalize one whenever you’re available,” Sheldon replied.
“Let’s do it now,” Christopher said.
Sheldon then sent the documents to his email and prepared to introduce the options individually. However, before he could finish introducing the first one, Christopher interrupted, “I’ll take this one.”
Sheldon was taken aback. He had expected Christopher to compare options or dismiss them all, but he didn’t even let him finish. It was as if he wanted the woman to move in immediately.
Sheldon quickly left to contact the realtor to finalize the contract. As he opened the office door, he overheard Christopher on the phone, saying, “I’ve found you a place. You can move in today if you have time.”
Sheldon was stunned. Move in today? So soon? Could it be that Christopher was asking Melody to move out? It wasn’t possible. They were in a cold war, so she likely wouldn’t answer the phone.
Meanwhile, Cynthia had just woken up at home when she received a call from Christopher. She was initially delighted, thinking he was calling to ask if she had had breakfast, but the first thing he said made her freeze.
“Move out? Christopher, didn’t you say you didn’t want me to move?” Her voice faltered, biting her lip.
“Reconsidered. Melody is returning soon, and there will definitely be conflicts if you’re both under the same roof. For your safety, I’ve rented you a place,” he said, his voice emotionless.
She bit her lip, thinking that Melody would never return. After all, the divorce agreement had already been signed, though he didn’t know yet. She certainly wouldn’t be foolish enough to tell him now. After all, that would mean Christopher would stop Melody before it even happened.
“Alright. Thank you for being considerate, Christopher,” Cynthia replied. “But it’s a bit rushed. I still have rehearsal this afternoon. Could I delay the move for two days?”
“That’s fine,” Christopher answered. “Let me know when you’re free, and I’ll take you over. The security and privacy of the place are excellent, so you don’t need to worry about anything.”
She thanked him, thinking the conversation was about to end. However, she was surprised when he asked again. “Did you post about the necklace I gave you on your Star Entertainment account last night?”
“Yes, I did. It’s so beautiful, and since it was a gift from you, I was delighted and just wanted to share it,” she answered. “Why do you ask, Christopher?” she added, pretending to be innocent.
“Your post was picked up by unscrupulous media and ended up trending. Didn’t you see?” Christopher asked.
“I just woke up. I went to bed late last night,” Cynthia replied.
“Didn’t Fiona mention it to you? Something like this could affect your image.” He noticed that his tone was tinged with anger.
“I didn’t have time to check my messages. I was on the phone with you as soon as I woke up,” she said, her voice tinged with a hint of tense frustration.
