Listen to this chapter:

Ann's leaving puzzled Sheldon. Christopher's clear concern for Melody contrasted sharply with his continued involvement with Cyuhla, even bringing her home. Sheldon had ordered Melody's meal but avoided mentioning Christopher as the source, fearing she would refuse it. At the hospital, the Fuller family, likely at Daniel's suggestion, provided Melody with a nutritious meal, which she received with a frown. Had Christopher voluntarily told her about her hospitalization? She hadn't contacted Daniel, nor had he contacted her, both aware that communication would reveal the extent of her injuries.

The past few days had been remarkably peaceful. Melody spent her time watching educational videos and practicing writing, preparing for a smooth return to work. Christopher's absence improved her mood, and the nutritious meals gave her a vibrant complexion. She gazed at the countdown on her phone, her heart filled with hope for a new life.

On the day of her discharge, she packed early. As she turned to leave, a figure stood by the door, staring at her. Melody was startled, but her heartbeat quickly settled. Maintaining a neutral expression, she didn't greet Christopher, who stood like a guard, a scowl on his face.

Sheldon quickly intervened, offering to take her bag. "Mrs. Fuller, let me take your bag."

"No need. I can carry it myself," she declined.

"That's the errand runner. There's no need to be polite," he smiled.

She looked at him and, slightly curling her lips, said, "Thank you."

At the door, Christopher watched Melody, cold towards him but smiling at Sheldon. His face darkened. He took two large strides, grabbed the bag she was reaching for, and looked at her. Melody looked up, unable to retrieve the bag, and Christopher remained motionless. Sighing, she said, "So, you don't want me to leave? Should I go back to being hospitalized?" He gritted his teeth. "Aren't you going to say something?"

Melody was puzzled. Then, it dawned on her. "I behave. I won't hurt Cynthia again. I'll keep a safe distance from her," she said indifferently. She knew he wouldn't believe Cynthia's deliberate framing, and she didn't feel like explaining further.

His anger only intensified. This was clearly not what he wanted to hear. Pride, however, prevented him from responding appropriately. He turned angrily and snapped, "You'd better."

Behind them, Sheldon quietly opened a drawer. The phone was still there, so he discreetly placed it in his bag.

At the garage, Sheldon drove. Melody intended to sit in the front passenger seat, but he quickly placed a bag there. She knew if she sat in front, Christopher might wreck the car.

"Mrs. Fuller, the rear door is open," Sheldon reminded her with a smile, feeling uneasy.

Melody nodded and sat in the back as Christopher got in.

As the car engine was about to start, Sheldon's phone buzzed. A message from Christopher read: "Maintain a serious attitude during working hours. No casual smiles."

Sheldon was speechless. What absurd request was this? When had he smiled? He'd only been polite to Melody. Then, it struck him: Christopher was jealous.

Sheldon remained silent, his composure unchanged, when another message arrived: "Otherwise, people might think you lack professional ethics."
