Sierra quickly shook her head. “No! It’s just that this way will save us a lot of trouble.”

Jonathan stared at her for a moment before suddenly saying, “Do you realize what it means now that this drug has been developed? It could bring immense wealth and catapult you to the top.”

“I know! I’m not an idiot!” Sierra let out a small laugh. “I understand everything you’re saying. I wouldn’t hand it over to just anyone, but if it’s you, I don’t mind!”

She spoke her thoughts directly, unaware that her words sent a jolt through Jonathan.

After a long pause, he finally muttered, “You still say you’re not an idiot! You’re the biggest fool I’ve ever seen!”

With that, he turned and walked out before Sierra could react.

Standing in the hallway, Jonathan’s expression was slightly irritated. He didn’t have a smoking habit and rarely touched cigarettes, but at that moment, he felt like he needed one. Everyone around him had always been selfish and scheming. This was the first time he had met someone as naive as Sierra.

Just because of a bit of kindness on his part, she was willing to give up such enormous benefits without hesitation. Truly, she was an absolute fool. A strange frustration welled up in his chest. In the end, he reached up and took off his glasses. The moment the lenses were removed, his entire demeanor changed drastically.

Inside the hospital room, Sierra was reviewing Lily’s latest test results, her expression grave. After discussing with the attending doctor, she decided to switch Lily’s medication and observe the effects.

Sierra knew about that drug. She said, “I asked around, but there’s no stock available on the market.” She had wanted to use it from the beginning, but the doctor told her it had only been recently developed and wasn’t available on the market yet. Even money couldn’t buy it.

Jonathan gave her a brief look and said, “I’ll have some sent over. Talk to the attending doctor. This will buy you some time, so you don’t have to burn yourself out.”

Sierra wanted to thank him. But in that moment, words of gratitude felt utterly meaningless. She had inquired about the drug and knew its value. It wasn’t something that could simply be measured in money.

“Is there anything I can do for you?” Sierra asked.

From Shane, she had learned that nothing in this world came for free. The things Jonathan had helped with before were small, just minor favors that cost him little effort. But this time, it was different.

Jonathan glanced at her. “Yes.”

For a brief moment, Sierra felt relieved, but then an inexplicable disappointment crept into her heart. She knew she shouldn’t feel that way, but before she could sort out her emotions, Jonathan said, “Complete your drug research… independently.”

I get to see both my little sisters every day!”
