Chapter 456 Full Circle

Autumn moved fast. Since Sierra had asked her to keep things confidential, she didn’t tell a soul or ask any questions. Once she got what she needed, she went straight to the lab.

The results came out quickly. She called Sierra. “Based on the hair samples, there’s a 99% probability that they’re direct relatives.”

Sierra’s heart sank. They’d all assumed Jonathan and Jose weren’t related – but somehow, things had circled back again.

“Got it. Thanks, Autumn.”

“Anytime!”

Autumn didn’t probe further. She had her suspicions but figured it was best not to get involved.

“You still not coming back to school for a few days?”

“Yeah. Thanks for helping me run the data.”

Sierra had left in a rush and could only rely on Autumn to handle the analysis.

“No problem. Just a quick task.”

Autumn didn’t linger – she could tell Sierra had her hands full and ended the call.

Sierra turned to Jonathan. From the look on her face alone, he’d already guessed.

“He’s my father, isn’t he?”

Sierra nodded.

Jonathan exhaled slowly. Maybe it was everything he’d been through lately, but somehow… he actually felt okay with the result.

If Jose hadn’t turned out to be his father, that would’ve felt like a joke.

Sierra hugged him and asked, “Do you want to test things with Susie too?”

“No.”

Jonathan said flatly, “If they want to keep hiding things, let them.”

Sierra was surprised. She knew how badly Jonathan had wanted to get to the bottom of the past. And now, just like that, he was letting it go?

“Let’s head back tomorrow.”

Suddenly, nothing seemed to matter to Jonathan anymore.

Everyone knew the truth – but they were all keeping it under wraps. He didn’t want to ask anymore. He didn’t care anymore.

Sierra respected his choice and nodded. “Okay. We’ll head back tomorrow.”

Both the Wynn family and Silas’s side were waiting for Jonathan to make a move. But to their surprise, Jonathan didn’t say a word. He just got on a plane and flew home.

When Chandler relayed the news to Silas, the older man let out a heavy sigh. “From now on, he really is a stranger to us.”

He knew Jonathan had reached the limit of his disappointment. Thinking back on everything, he couldn’t help but sigh again.

Chase and Susie had also been waiting for Jonathan to confront them. They’d even prepared what to say. But the days dragged on, and Jonathan never showed up.

“What’s going on?” The couple stared at each other, baffled.

Jose wanted to know too. The moment he heard Jonathan was back, he went to find him. His expression was especially complicated.

He had always looked up to Jonathan, but now… he wasn’t sure what he was feeling.

After a moment of silence, he finally blurted out, “Jonathan!”

As soon as the name left his mouth, he regretted it. He glanced at Jonathan, panicked. But Jonathan didn’t get angry – instead, he gave a small nod.

Jose froze, unsure how to react. After a pause, he said, “I overheard their conversation that day. They—”

Before he could finish, Jonathan cut him off. “You don’t have to tell me. I don’t care anymore.”

Jose opened his mouth, but no words came out.

He thought Jonathan might ask him to keep digging – but all he got was that.

“So what are your plans now?” Jonathan suddenly asked.

“What?”

Jose wasn’t following. Jonathan, clearly impatient, clarified, “Planning to keep studying? I think you should come back and work at the company.”

Jose had worked at the Wynn family company before. But after a serious screw-up, Susie had forbidden him from getting involved again.

Now, hearing Jonathan’s words, Jose finally understood something. He frowned. “Jonathan, I don’t want to go back.”

Jonathan acted like he didn’t hear him. “I’ve seen the departments you used to manage. You did alright. Starting tomorrow, shadow me. Get to know the family business.”

That scared the hell out of Jose.

“Jonathan, what exactly are you planning?”

Jonathan, as always, didn’t bother to explain. He just patted Jose’s shoulder. “Alright, go home.”

“Jonathan!”

Jose called out a few more times, but Jonathan didn’t stop walking.

Now Jose was completely panicked. This was huge. He rushed back to tell his father.

“Jonathan’s acting like he doesn’t care about anything anymore.”

He said, anxious, “He’s definitely blaming us. Why keep hiding things at this point, after everything that’s happened?”
