Chapter 443 An Island and a Warning
Over the past few days, both the butler and Susie had given him tons of suggestions, but none of them satisfied him.
Sierra hadnโt realized Johnathan was so troubled about the wedding. She hadnโt really put much thought into it herself.
โWhat kind of wedding do you want?โ Sierra asked.
Johnathan explained the parts he was unsure about, then asked, โWhat about you? What do you want?โ
โI just want to be with you,โ Sierra said. โIf possible, Iโd like it to be on that island from last time.โ
Back then, her grandmother had still been alive, and Dickson was there too. That had been the happiest time of her life.
Hearing her answer, Johnathan looked thoughtful. It seemed he now knew what to do.
In the following days, Johnathan got even busier. Sierra figured he was busy with the wedding and didnโt ask any questions.
No matter what kind of wedding Johnathan planned, she would gladly accept it.
They had already delayed things for quite a while. Though Sierra had informed her professor and mentors, she still felt a bit guilty. Now that she had some free time, she arranged to meet up with them.
When Johnathan had gotten into trouble, they were all very worried. Later, when the news broke that he had โdied,โ each of them had been devastated.
They had all called her, but back then, it hadnโt been the right time to explain anything.
Now that everything was over, Sierra told them what had really happened and offered a sincere apology.
โNo need for all that. As long as youโre okay,โ her professor said, still visibly shaken. โThe world is a dangerous place now.โ
The look in his eyes was full of concern. Sometimes being too exceptional wasnโt a good thingโit drew the wrong kind of attention.
Even someone from Johnathanโs background hadnโt been spared. Sierra, even less so.
He warned her, โFrom now on, donโt go anywhere alone. You should at least bring a few bodyguards.โ
Sierra couldnโt exactly tell them that someone was already following her.
Even though the crisis had passed, both Johnathan and Wayne were still uneasy. They had people watching her from the shadows.
She was also carrying several GPS trackers, all the latest models. Mateo had personally guaranteed they would never fail.
Sierra didnโt mind any of it now. It was for her safetyโand it gave Johnathan peace of mind.
Chapter 443 An Island and a Warning
As they chatted, the conversation turned to the antidote Sierra had developed.
Though nothing had been made public, everyone in the field already knew what had happened.
When Johnathan was in trouble, many top experts had tried and failed. In the end, it was Sierra who created the cure.
People said the attempt had failed, but seeing Johnathan alive and well now made it clear the antidote had worked.
Still, the news had been suppressedโlikely on Johnathanโs orders.
She had already made several breakthrough achievements in a short time. If the details of Johnathan's incident were revealed, she would only be in greater danger.
Johnathan and Sierra had discussed it. He wanted her to slow down and focus on solidifying her foundation. Most of all, he was worried those people might come after her again.
Professor Martin asked Sierra what she planned to do next. He said he had some university research projects lined upโnot too ambitiousโand wondered if sheโd be interested.
Sierra said yes without hesitation.
Professor Martin was pleased. Honestly, there wasnโt much more he could teach her at her current level, but she still treated him with deep respect.
Thinking of that, he couldnโt help bringing up Johnathan. โYouโre way better than that punk.โ
Sierra gave a helpless smile. Her professor never missed a chance to take a jab at Johnathan.
They chatted over lunch, the mood warm and relaxed.
But that peace didnโt last. A server suddenly came over with a bottle of wine.
โA gentleman named Goodman ordered this for you.โ
The moment she heard the name Goodman, Sierraโs face dropped.
The others didnโt understand what was going on, but Sierra forced a smile and said, โExcuse me. Iโll go take a look.โ
She stepped out of the private room. Shane was waiting outside. When he saw her, he waved in greeting.
โLong time no see.โ
Sierraโs expression darkened instantly. She hadnโt forgotten the condition Shane had attached when he sent that medicine.
Seeing how tense she was, Shane chuckled.
โRelax. I just happened to see you and thought Iโd send over a drink. The thing with the medicine is overโsomeone else paid the price!โ
Hearing that, Sierra immediately understood. No wonder Shane had never come after her. It wasnโt because he had a change of heartโJohnathan had already taken care of it.
She didnโt ask what Johnathan had agreed to. She just said, โTake your wine back.โ
