Johnathan didn't want Quinn to keep bringing up his mother, so he changed the subject.
โWhen my hand healed back then, that person stopped coming too, right?โ
โYeah,โ Quinn nodded, then asked curiously, โWhatโs with you today? Why are you asking so much about her?โ
โNothing, just remembering old times. Thought about the food she made,โ Johnathan said, half-truthfully.
Hearing that, Quinn quickly said, โIf you miss her cooking so much, why not ask if sheโs willing to come to the country?โ
โYou and Sierra are both so busy. Having someone to cook for you would be nice.โ
Johnathanโs heart skipped slightly. โYou can still contact her?โ
โI donโt know,โ Quinn said. โI kept her number back then, but Iโm not sure if it still works.โ
She searched for a long time before finally finding the number. When she called, it turned out the line had long been reassigned.
โItโs been so many years. Sheโs probably not even there anymore. I heard she had gone overseas with her child for school. She probably went back to her home country by now,โ Quinn explained.
Johnathan didnโt say much. They chatted a little more about old memories. As he was about to leave, he asked casually, โWhere did you find her back then? Maybe I can still track her down.โ
Quinn froze for a moment before answering, โI donโt remember. Itโs been so many years. I donโt know if I posted something at school or if someone helped me find her. Iโll look through my stuff and see if I can find anything.โ
She smiled and added, โSeems like you really loved her cooking.โ
Johnathan didnโt deny it. But when he left the apartment, his expression darkened. He had dropped by without any warning, brought up the topic randomly, and yet Quinn hadnโt shown a single flaw. Either she truly had nothing to do with it, or she was acting incredibly well. If it was the latter, he had seriously underestimated Quinn all these years.
Johnathan still remembered the housekeeperโs face from back then. He quickly sketched out a rough image and sent it to Mateo.
โFind this person. Ten years ago she should have been overseas.โ
Johnathan gave him a few more details. Mateo worked quickly. Before Johnathan even settled back into the company, Mateo was already there.
โI think I found her. Take a look.โ
Mateo pulled up a photo on his laptop. Johnathan glanced at it once and confirmed immediately. โThatโs her.โ
Though her hairstyle and clothes were different, Johnathan was certain she was the same woman.
โWhere is she now?โ he pressed. He needed to find her fast.
โUnderground,โ Mateo said, rolling his eyes. โWhat the hell are you into these days?โ
Hearing she was dead, Johnathan didnโt even flinch. He didnโt answer Mateoโs question and only asked, โWhen did she die?โ
โLet me check.โ
Mateo dug around and gave a date. Johnathan thought about it carefully. That date was only a few days after she had left his place. So this lead was dead too?
Seeing him deep in thought, Mateo didnโt dare interrupt. After a long moment, he asked, โWhatโs going on?โ
Johnathan finally looked up at him. โSomeoneโs targeting me.โ
โWhat do you mean?โ
Mateoโs face changed. โYou found out who went after Sierra?โ
Johnathan shook his head and explained the leak of his research data. When Mateo finished listening, he was speechless. He understood just how serious this was. Domestically, regulations were strict. If anyone found out that the future head of the Wynn family had ties to drugs circulating on black markets overseas, it would cause massive damage. The Wynn family had maintained its power for years by staying lawful and avoiding any political factions. If this blew up, the consequences would be devastating.

โShould we tell Sierra?โ Mateo asked. โAnd if youโre not doing research anymore, wonโt they change targets and start watching Sierra?โ
That hit Johnathan hard. He and Mateo exchanged a look, both thinking about the earlier incident when Sierra and Dravenโs research had been leaked. Back then, they had blamed foreign forces, but they never found out exactly who was behind it. Now, Sierra was working on research connected to Quinnโs blood.
Realizing this, Johnathan couldnโt sit still any longer. He immediately headed for Sierraโs school.
