Chapter 332: The Decision
Sierra hesitated before entering. She approached Jonathan, trying to calm Quinn. But as soon as she touched Quinnโs hand, Quinn violently flung her away. Sierraโs arm hit the cabinet with a thud, and she cried out in pain.
โDonโt touch me!โ
Quinnโs eyes were filled with fear and panic.
Johnathanโs expression changed instantly upon seeing Sierra hurt. He forcefully pulled Quinn up and said coldly, โCalm down! No one here wants to hurt you. Snap out of it!โ
Perhaps his words had some effect, because Quinnโs expression slowly cleared. She seemed to finally recognize them.
โJohnathan. Sierra!โ
Her gaze fell on Sierra, and it looked like something clicked. A guilty look spread across her face.
โIโm sorry, Sierra. I didnโt mean toโฆ Iโm so sorry.โ
She quickly reached for Sierraโs hand but pulled back halfway, as if afraid of hurting her again. She looked completely conflicted and pitiful.
It really did hurt when she hit the cabinet, but Sierra couldnโt bring herself to hold it against someone who was sick. She shook her head. โItโs fine.โ
Now that Quinn had calmed down, Johnathan released her and took Sierraโs hand. Seeing her wrist was red and swollen, he frowned. โGet it checked.โ
Without giving Sierra a chance to refuse, he took her straight to orthopedics. The results came back quicklyโno fracture, just a bruise. Some ointment would be enough.
Johnathanโs face was dark. He was burning with frustration, but he had no idea who to take it out on. Quinn was sick. He couldnโt hold it against her.
โItโs okay. I didnโt expect her reaction to be that intense,โ Sierra said.
She truly hadnโt expected Quinnโs condition to be this severe. It was like she didnโt recognize anyone else. That burst of aggressionโsheโd looked at Sierra like she was the enemy.
โThe psychiatrist examined her. She has severe violent tendencies now. She doesnโt trust anyone around her.โ
Except him. When she lost control, he was the only one she recognized. Everyone else might as well have been strangers.
The psychiatrist said treatment would take time. It would require patience and helping her relax slowly. But Johnathan didnโt think that was realistic. He didnโt have that kind of time, and he definitely didnโt have that kind of patience.
Heโd been mulling over what to do with Quinn, uncertain beforeโbut now, heโd made his mind up.
โIโm planning to send her to a care facility for now.โ
He finally voiced his decision. Given Quinnโs current state, there was no way she could be left alone. And Tora was stillโฆ
Quinn was his family, and it was only natural for him to care for her. Still, seeing Quinn cling to Jonathan like that, Sierra couldnโt help but feel jealous.
She hadnโt expected him to make that kind of decision. After a momentโs hesitation, she asked, โWonโt that make things worse for her?โ
โIโm going to get the best medical team and doctors. Iโm not a psychiatrist. Leaving her in their care is the best option,โ Johnathan said flatly.
He did care about Quinn, but only to a point. He couldnโt spend every waking moment taking care of her. He didnโt have the patience or the energy for that, and he wasnโt going to let Quinn turn his whole life upside down. She was already starting to affect his life with Sierra.
โWhat about Dora?โ Sierra asked. โWhat happens to her?โ
โSheโll stay with me for now. Then Iโll find a special school for her.โ
There were schools specifically for children with psychological needs.
Sierra hadnโt expected that in just one night, Johnathan had already figured everything out. In that moment, she wasnโt sure whether to be shocked by how cold he could beโor relieved that heโd made a decision.
Noticing the shift in her expression, Johnathan asked, โWhat are you thinking about?โ
Sierra looked at him and shook her head. โNothing.โ
Sheโd actually been wondering if it were her in that hospital bed today, what kind of choice Johnathan would make? But the thought had barely crossed her mind before she shut it down. She didnโt want to overthink things. She didnโt want to drive herself crazy with doubt.
Seeing her return to normal, Johnathan didnโt press the issue. Too much had happened lately, and even he was starting to feel worn out. Johnathan was a man of action. Once heโd made a decision, he acted on it immediately.
A little over half an hour later, the secretary showed up at Quinnโs hospital room with a team of professionals. Quinn was calm now. When she saw the group enter, she visibly froze. Then, almost instinctively, she looked at Johnathan.
Johnathan was never one for sugarcoating. He said directly, โYouโre not in a condition to be alone right now. So I found a care facility for you. They have the best psychiatrists. Work with them, get better. Thatโs all I want.โ
