Chapter 253: The Only One Who Could Stop Him

In Wayneโ€™s memory, this was only the second time Jonathan had ever compromised. The first was when Jonathan chose to live freely outside the Wynn family, on the condition that he would return at thirty. This time, it was because of a girl named Sierra. She seemed to be even more important than Wayne had originally thought.

When Jonathan left the estate, his expression was dark. The moment he got into his car, he called Stone. โ€œMeet me at the usual place.โ€

Stone felt his stomach drop. Without hesitation, he sent a message in their private group chat: โ€œJon told me to meet him at the usual spot. Who pissed him off?โ€

Mateo replied, โ€œDidnโ€™t his grandpa turn out fine?โ€

Draven wrote, โ€œStone, good luck.โ€

Maddox replied, โ€œIโ€™m free right now. Letโ€™s go check it out.โ€

Mateo wrote, โ€œI donโ€™t wanna get hit, but I do wanna watch Stone get his ass kicked.โ€

By the time Mateo and the others arrived, Jonathan and Stone were already fighting. Stone, usually a force to be reckoned with, had no chance against Jonathan. He was barely managing to defend himself.

As Jonathanโ€™s fist swung down again, Mateo flinched and muttered under his breath, โ€œYeahโ€ฆ Jonโ€™s really pissed. Iโ€™m kinda scared.โ€

Maddox and Draven exchanged looks but said nothing.

โ€œWe should call for backup,โ€ Mateo suggested, raising his phone. โ€œWhat do you guys think?โ€

Draven nodded. โ€œAgreed.โ€

To be honest, none of them wanted to go up against Jonathan when he was actually angry. His strength was just too terrifying.

Mateo stepped out to make the call. Meanwhile, inside the training room, Stone was on the verge of collapse. โ€œWait, waitโ€”break. I need a break,โ€ he gasped, holding up a time-out gesture. But Jonathan clearly wasnโ€™t finished.

His sharp gaze landed on Maddox and Draven, sending a chill down their spines. โ€œWhich one of you is up next?โ€

Draven immediately took a step back. โ€œNot me. My hands are too valuable.โ€

Maddox wanted to swear. So Dravenโ€™s hands are precious, but mine are meant to be punching bags? He wanted to refuse, but Jonathanโ€™s piercing gaze left no room for negotiation.

With a deep breath, Maddox stepped into the ring. Then, it was Dravenโ€™s turn. Then, Mateoโ€™s.

By the time Jonathan was done with him, Mateo was practically in tears. โ€œIโ€™m done. Iโ€™m out. I canโ€™t take this anymore.โ€ He collapsed onto the floor. โ€œI work with tech! Why am I being forced to be a human punching bag?โ€

Jonathanโ€™s gaze swept back to Stone, making him stiffen. But just then, Jonathanโ€™s phone rang. A distinct ringtone. The moment he saw the caller ID, his entire demeanor changed. His features relaxed. His voice dropped to a deep, almost gentle tone as he answered, โ€œHey, Sierra.โ€

It was as if the person who had been ruthlessly beating them moments ago had disappeared. The bloodthirsty, oppressive energy faded completely.

Mateo couldnโ€™t help but blurt out, โ€œWhat the hell! This bastard! But alsoโ€ฆ Why is Sierra only calling now?โ€ He had just stepped out to call her earlier, but she hadnโ€™t picked up. Since she hadnโ€™t answered, he had left a message, letting her know that Jonathan was in a bad mood and that she should call him when she got the chance.

Sierra had been in the middle of wrapping up a project at the lab. It was only after she had finally taken a break that she noticed Mateoโ€™s message. That was why she had called now. She didnโ€™t know what had happened, but since Mateo had made it sound serious, she asked, โ€œJonathan, where are you right now?โ€

Jonathan glanced at the others before replying, โ€œIโ€™m with Stone and the guys.โ€

Sierra hesitated for a moment, then said, โ€œSince the gathering didnโ€™t happen yesterday, and theyโ€™re all with you nowโ€ฆ I just finished up at the lab, so why donโ€™t I come over?โ€

Jonathan, of course, wouldnโ€™t refuse. But instead, he said, โ€œWait at school. Iโ€™ll come pick you up.โ€ Even as he spoke, he was already hopping out of the ring, heading for the showers.

Only after he disappeared did Stone and the others finally relax. Mateo, still sprawled on the ground, groaned, โ€œI really thought I was gonna die here today.โ€

โ€œI swear, the gift I got Sierra isnโ€™t good enough. I need to get her something even better next time,โ€ Maddox continued.

โ€œSierra is our savior,โ€ Draven muttered.
