Chapter 245: A Meeting Long Overdue

Autumn was a cheerful and straightforward day, full of energy. Sierra got along well with all three of her boatmates. Finn, for some reason, had a habit of packing a bit of an ass. Since Sierra had never received formal academic training, she was unfamiliar with many things, especially when it came to handling lab equipment and involved procedures. Every time she made a mistake or hesitated, Finn couldn't help but criticize. But it was still within an acceptable range. Besides, Autumn was always there to back her up and offer comments.

Every time Finn opened his mouth to criticize Sierra, Mun would immediately start rambling about the day she met Johnathan, still excited about it. Without fail, Finn would go quiet and sulk. Sierra had noticed Finn looking at her several times, always with an expression that seemed like he wanted to say something but held back. The moment she turned to face him, he would quickly look away, his pride not allowing him to speak.

At first, she didn't understand what his problem was. Until Autumn finally clued her in. โ€œHe wants to meet Mr. Johnathan,โ€ Autumn said, barely holding back a laugh. โ€œBut heโ€™s too embarrassed to ask you for help.โ€

Sierra found it hard to believe. At the same time, she fully grasped just how highly Johnathan was regarded among this group. After some thought, she stepped outside and called Johnathan.

It took a while before he picked up. โ€œWhatโ€™s wrong? Did something happen?โ€ His voice carried a hint of concern. Sierra rarely called him at this hour. โ€œNothingโ€™s wrong!โ€ she quickly reassured him. โ€œI just wanted to ask if youโ€™re free today. Can you come to the lab to pick me up?โ€

Johnathan had been busy lately, leaving early and coming home late. Most days, he just waited for her outside the campus entranceโ€”Sierraโ€™s way of keeping a low profile. Hearing her request, Johnathan was momentarily surprised before responding, โ€œIโ€™m free. Iโ€™ll be there soon. Wait for me.โ€ After hanging up, he immediately got up to leave. โ€œGrandpa, I have something to do. Iโ€™ll head out first.โ€

โ€œGoing to pick someone up?โ€ He knew his grandson was in a relationship. He hadnโ€™t thought much of it before, but now, something felt different. He had watched Johnathan grow up. He knew his grandsonโ€™s personality better than anyone. If his own father had dropped dead, Johnathan probably wouldnโ€™t have even blinked. And yet, one phone call from this girl, and he was suddenly impatient to leave? That was something new. Johnathan hadnโ€™t bothered to keep the conversation private, and he didnโ€™t intend to hide it now either. He nodded. โ€œYou like her that much?โ€ Mr. Wynn asked, unable to hold back his curiosity.
