Chapter 132: Morning After Realities
The next day, when Sierra woke up, she felt engulfed in darkness, as if she were back in those sunless days. Startled, she instinctively tensed in defense. As she moved, the motion-sensing lights in the room flickered on, and she could finally see her surroundings.
Maybe hearing the noise inside, the door swung open and Jonathan entered.
โAwake?โ
โMr. Yeager?โ
Seeing Jonathan snapped her back to reality. Noticing her pale complexion, Jonathan drew the curtains open, letting the sunlight pour in, and Sierra finally relaxed completely. Noticing this, Jonathanโs eyes darkened slightly; he realized Sierra was afraid of the dark.
โWhere is this?โ
Sierra looked around, already guessing, and Jonathanโs response confirmed her suspicion.
โThis is my bedroom!โ
Sierra opened her mouth; she had stayed at Jonathanโs place before but had never entered his bedroom. The decor was like him; simple yet sophisticated.
Jonathan glanced at her with a hint of amusement. โYou were drunk yesterday. Not even a full bottle of beer and you were out!โ
Sierra, unusually embarrassed, hadnโt realized her tolerance was so poor. She couldnโt remember much from the night before, just that she had been very happy.
โI didnโt do anythingโฆ did I?โ she asked uncertainly.
Jonathan glanced at her lips. โYou did!โ
Sierraโs heart skipped a beat. โWhat did I do?โ
Seeing Jonathanโs gaze fixed on her lips, she felt inexplicably nervous; surely notโฆ She didnโt dare to think further, and Jonathanโs next words made her want to escape on the spot.
โYou said I was very handsome, andโฆโ
โStop!โ Sierra cut him off urgently; she couldnโt bear to hear more.
Despite the awkwardness, Sierra still braved it. โIโm really sorry, Mr. Yeager. I was drunk last night; I didnโt know what I was saying.โ It sounded like a classic dodgerโs excuse, but thatโs all Sierra could say. โSo, it doesnโt count?โ
Jonathan looked at her, his expression cooling. Sierra, feeling bold, nodded.
Jonathan smiled faintly. โBut what if I took it seriously?โ
He continued with interest, ignoring her shocked look. โYou didnโt just say I was handsome; you kissed me, said you liked me, asked if I wanted to be your boyfriend, andโฆโ
Sierra covered her head, unable to face Jonathan, fully believing what he said.
Because deep down, she really felt that way; she had been restraining herself, her reason reminding her of the gap between her and Jonathan, yet she knew Jonathan was different for her. She thought she could keep it hidden forever, fooling both Jonathan and herself. She hadnโt expected a single beer to ruin it all. She didnโt know how to face Jonathan now, her panic urging her to flee, but Jonathan blocked her at the door, saying things that made her heart race.
โSo, you really plan to deny it?โ
Sierra looked down, unable to meet Jonathanโs gaze, and obviously didnโt see the amusement and heat in his eyes.
โMr. Yeager, Iโm really sorry, I was drunk, Iโฆโ She wanted to say it wasnโt intentional, but Jonathan cut her off.
โDenying it wonโt work; I heard everything, and I already agreed!โ
โWhat?โ Sierra instinctively looked up. Could it be what I thought?
Jonathan looked down into her eyes. โYou asked if I wanted to try being with you, and I said yes!โ
Sierra felt as if her mind had exploded; his words echoed in her head. He agreed! He agreed!
Rarely seeing Sierra so stunned, Jonathan found it somewhat amusing. He lightly caressed her cheek. โSo, donโt think about denying it, Sierra, letโs give it a try!โ
He was also curious to see how long his concern for Sierra would last. Having lived nearly three decades, this was the first time he cared so much about someone.
The moment his warm fingers touched her skin, Sierra finally snapped out of it. Her eyelashes fluttered as she looked up at the tall man in front of her, then suddenly stepped back.
