Chapter 132: Morning After Realities

The next day, when Sierra woke up, she felt engulfed in darkness, as if she were back in those sunless days. Startled, she instinctively tensed in defense. As she moved, the motion-sensing lights in the room flickered on, and she could finally see her surroundings.

Maybe hearing the noise inside, the door swung open and Jonathan entered.

โ€œAwake?โ€

โ€œMr. Yeager?โ€

Seeing Jonathan snapped her back to reality. Noticing her pale complexion, Jonathan drew the curtains open, letting the sunlight pour in, and Sierra finally relaxed completely. Noticing this, Jonathanโ€™s eyes darkened slightly; he realized Sierra was afraid of the dark.

โ€œWhere is this?โ€

Sierra looked around, already guessing, and Jonathanโ€™s response confirmed her suspicion.

โ€œThis is my bedroom!โ€

Sierra opened her mouth; she had stayed at Jonathanโ€™s place before but had never entered his bedroom. The decor was like him; simple yet sophisticated.

Jonathan glanced at her with a hint of amusement. โ€œYou were drunk yesterday. Not even a full bottle of beer and you were out!โ€

Sierra, unusually embarrassed, hadnโ€™t realized her tolerance was so poor. She couldnโ€™t remember much from the night before, just that she had been very happy.

โ€œI didnโ€™t do anythingโ€ฆ did I?โ€ she asked uncertainly.

Jonathan glanced at her lips. โ€œYou did!โ€

Sierraโ€™s heart skipped a beat. โ€œWhat did I do?โ€

Seeing Jonathanโ€™s gaze fixed on her lips, she felt inexplicably nervous; surely notโ€ฆ She didnโ€™t dare to think further, and Jonathanโ€™s next words made her want to escape on the spot.

โ€œYou said I was very handsome, andโ€ฆโ€

โ€œStop!โ€ Sierra cut him off urgently; she couldnโ€™t bear to hear more.

Despite the awkwardness, Sierra still braved it. โ€œIโ€™m really sorry, Mr. Yeager. I was drunk last night; I didnโ€™t know what I was saying.โ€ It sounded like a classic dodgerโ€™s excuse, but thatโ€™s all Sierra could say. โ€œSo, it doesnโ€™t count?โ€

Jonathan looked at her, his expression cooling. Sierra, feeling bold, nodded.

Jonathan smiled faintly. โ€œBut what if I took it seriously?โ€

He continued with interest, ignoring her shocked look. โ€œYou didnโ€™t just say I was handsome; you kissed me, said you liked me, asked if I wanted to be your boyfriend, andโ€ฆโ€

Sierra covered her head, unable to face Jonathan, fully believing what he said.

Because deep down, she really felt that way; she had been restraining herself, her reason reminding her of the gap between her and Jonathan, yet she knew Jonathan was different for her. She thought she could keep it hidden forever, fooling both Jonathan and herself. She hadnโ€™t expected a single beer to ruin it all. She didnโ€™t know how to face Jonathan now, her panic urging her to flee, but Jonathan blocked her at the door, saying things that made her heart race.

โ€œSo, you really plan to deny it?โ€

Sierra looked down, unable to meet Jonathanโ€™s gaze, and obviously didnโ€™t see the amusement and heat in his eyes.

โ€œMr. Yeager, Iโ€™m really sorry, I was drunk, Iโ€ฆโ€ She wanted to say it wasnโ€™t intentional, but Jonathan cut her off.

โ€œDenying it wonโ€™t work; I heard everything, and I already agreed!โ€

โ€œWhat?โ€ Sierra instinctively looked up. Could it be what I thought?

Jonathan looked down into her eyes. โ€œYou asked if I wanted to try being with you, and I said yes!โ€

Sierra felt as if her mind had exploded; his words echoed in her head. He agreed! He agreed!

Rarely seeing Sierra so stunned, Jonathan found it somewhat amusing. He lightly caressed her cheek. โ€œSo, donโ€™t think about denying it, Sierra, letโ€™s give it a try!โ€

He was also curious to see how long his concern for Sierra would last. Having lived nearly three decades, this was the first time he cared so much about someone.

The moment his warm fingers touched her skin, Sierra finally snapped out of it. Her eyelashes fluttered as she looked up at the tall man in front of her, then suddenly stepped back.
