Chapter 121: Sierraโ€™s Surprise

โ€œWhen did I get a girlfriend? How come I didnโ€™t know about this?โ€ Jonathan had just finished answering student questions when he said this. He had spotted Sierra surrounded by a group from a distance and had quickened his pace, catching just that phrase as he approached.

The girls around her panicked immediately, shouting, โ€œMr. Yeager!โ€

Jonathan glanced at them and asked with a faint smile, โ€œI thought I heard something about me just now?โ€

โ€œNo,โ€ they said, scrambling away. โ€œMr. Yeager, we have to go; other matters to attend to,โ€ they added, hurrying off. Of course, none of them dared repeat their earlier words in front of Jonathan.

Sierra couldnโ€™t resist teasing him, โ€œMr. Yeager, youโ€™re quite the ladiesโ€™ man!โ€

She had long known Denise had feelings for Jonathan, but hadnโ€™t expected her to boldly claim she was his girlfriend. Denise had even switched from the literature department to biochemistry for him. Indeed, Jonathan had that sort of charm. Even Sierra sometimes couldnโ€™t control her own feelings, but fortunately, she remembered the gap between them.

Sierra had planned to wait until a detective had fully investigated Deniseโ€™s past actions before making a move, but now she was getting impatient.

โ€œMr. Yeager, are you free? Could you accompany me somewhere?โ€

Jonathan seemed to guess what she was up to; a spark of interest flashed in his eyes. โ€œIโ€™ll remember this favor.โ€

โ€œDeal!โ€ Sierra agreed immediately. She owed Jonathan so much; one more favor wouldnโ€™t make a difference.

Denise wanted to see me? Well, she would grant her that wish. Hopefully, Denise would appreciate this grand gesture.

In the hospital, Eleanor, looking tired, gently urged Denise, โ€œDenny, be good, we canโ€™t delay your surgery any longer; weโ€™ll talk about everything else later.โ€

Out of all her children, Eleanor loved Denise the most. After having three sons, she had desperately wanted a daughter, and as fate would have it, Denny was born. She had showered Denny with all her love, only to end up with regretsโ€ฆ Her emotional investment couldnโ€™t be taken back, even though she knew Denise had made some mistakes; she couldnโ€™t ignore her well-being.

โ€œMomโ€ฆโ€ Denise looked pitifully at Eleanor. These past few days, partly because of the act and partly genuine concern, she had cried many times, swelling her eyes.

Sure enough, her parents and brothers had softened. She had already achieved half her goal. She knew her own physical condition well, but only by acting this way could she soften their hearts. The more she acted this way, the more she could express her remorse and highlight Sierraโ€™s cruelty. She was not about to risk her life over Sierra. She planned to give in after another day or two. Of course, this โ€˜giving inโ€™ had to be clever, like fainting at just the right moment, clueless about everything, necessitating emergency surgery.

Once she woke up, the Kander family would condemn her. A triumphant smile appeared in her eyes. From her brotherโ€™s arrival to fainting, the hospital room dove into suspense.

She began to speak instinctively, but her voice stopped abruptly as her eyes widened in disbelief, then shifted to wary pride. Serra had actually come. Her scheme had worked. So what if Sierra is so formidable? The game is still played by me. Sierra must be feeling terrible, but what could she do about it? She had no choice but to face it, my life is at stake.

Thinking this, she put on a sincerely joyful smile and exclaimed, โ€œSierra!โ€

Seeing the smile on Deniseโ€™s face, Sierraโ€™s lips slightly curled upwards, hoping she could also smile like this later.

Seeing Sierra, Eleanor was both shocked and delighted; tears welled up in her eyes as she nodded continuously. โ€œGoodโ€ฆโ€

There was no grudge that lasted overnight in a family, and Sierra still cared about them. She tried to reach for Sierraโ€™s hand.

Seeing Bradleyโ€™s grateful expression, Sierra said, โ€œMadam Xander, I think youโ€™ve misunderstood something. I came here because I was annoyed with all of you; please donโ€™t assume anything else.โ€

Eleanor was taken aback, about to respond, when Bradley and the others also arrived, all showing surprise at seeing Sierra.
