Chapter 107: No Turning Back
If this was the game they wanted to play, then sheโd make sure they felt every bit of it. Tender was their favorite. If they hurt someone she cared about, Tierra would make sure they faced the consequences.
โYou!โ Bradley was so shocked and furious that he couldnโt even find the words. He never expected Sierra to be this ruthless. This time he had things harder. Before, she had never gone this far. Did ties that worthless, and not really mean that much to her?
A strange feeling of jealousy washed over Bradley. Sierra was supposed to care about them, not favor outsiders. She had always stood by their side, looking out for them without question. But now, she didnโt care about them anymoreโand they would never get it back.
File, however, couldnโt care less about what Bradley was thinking. Once they reached an agreement, she turned her attention back to Dickson.
โDonโt be scared. Iโm here. Iโll take you home.โ With that, she grabbed his medication and led him out of the hospital.
Bradley stood frozen in place, unable to process what had just happened. News of the incident quickly reached the Xander family. By the time Evan and Sean arrived at the hospital, they found Bradley sitting there, his expression dark and stormy.
Seeing his injury, Seanโs temper flared immediately. โWho did this? Was it Sierra? Iโll make her pay!โ
Bradley quickly held him back, his voice hoarse. โIt wasnโt her.โ After a brief explanation, he recounted everything that had happened. His brothers were just as furious as he was.
โHas she lost her mind?โ
โWhy would she say something like thatโfor an outsider?โ
After a long silence, Bradley finally spoke. โTo her, weโre the outsiders now.โ At that, neither of them could say another word.
Meanwhile, Sierra had already taken Dickson home. Once they arrived, his emotions settled, and he seemed much calmer and more clear-headed. Still, he looked at her with guilt in his eyes. โSierra, Iโm sorry. I caused so much trouble for you.โ
At the time, he hadnโt even realized what had happened. When that man started talking, Dickson tried to ignore him. But the moment he insulted him, he couldnโt hold back.
"Sir, you should have defended me. Heโs right.โ
โWhat are you talking about?โ Dickson's expression darkened. โDid you forget everything I told you? Do you really believe a strangerโs words over mine?โ
Seeing her reaction, Dickson immediately apologized. โIโm sorry, Sierra. Thatโs not what I meant.โ
Chapter 107: No Turning Back
Sierra exhaled and met his eyes. โListen to me, Dickson. Iโll say this again. You are not the one at fault.โ
Dickson swallowed hard, then gave her a firm nod. Sierra never told Lily what had really happened to Dickson. Lily had been asking about him for days, but Sierra simply said he had caught a cold and didnโt want to risk getting her sick. Even then, Lily had been worried. She kept telling Sierra to make him some nourishing food to help him recover.
Once they finished talking about Dickson, Lily suddenly changed the subject. โBy the way, James and Yulia showed up days ago. I have no idea how they even found me.โ
Sierra didnโt need to guessโit was obviously the Xander family who had leaked the information. They seemed much better off than beforeโI have no idea what happened. They tried to take me with them, but I refused. James even tried to force me, but luckily, Dr. Zahn heard the commotion and stepped in. James is recklessโhe even shoved Dr. Zahn, and the poor guy twisted his ankle. Luckily, it wasnโt his hand. Imagine what wouldโve happened if a surgeon injured his hand.
Even Lily understood how valuable a surgeonโs hands were. They couldnโt afford to get hurt. Sierra hadnโt expected this turn of events, and her brows furrowed slightly. As expected, anything involving James always led to trouble.
Since Oscar had gotten hurt because of Lily, it was only right for Sierra to check on him. After leaving Lilyโs hospital room, she headed straight to Oscarโs office. The moment he saw her, Oscarโs face lit up. โItโs been days since I last saw you.โ
โIโve been busy these past few days,โ Sierra replied. โI heard about what happened the other day. Thank you, Dr. Zahn, and Iโm sorry for the trouble. Howโs your ankle?โ
โItโs nothing,โ Oscar said casually. โI just lost my balance and twisted it a little. I sprayed some medicine on it, and it stopped hurting right away. Madam Lily was more worried about it than I was.โ
โDr. Zahn, do you have time for lunch later? Let me treat you to a meal.โ
Since Oscar had work in the afternoon, they didnโt go far. Instead, they chose a restaurant near the hospital.
