Chapter 658 The Fall of Paul Powell

The store clerk brought out the finished pottery piece. It looked almost identical to the original clay model they had made.

Yunice looked at it curiously. โ€œWhy does it look better now? Did ours crack in the kiln and they remade it for us?โ€

โ€œNope,โ€ Wyatt replied.

Still doubtful, Yunice inspected the ornament. โ€œDid you mark it or something?โ€

Otherwise, how could they be sure it was the exact one they made?

Wyatt pointed to a small detail. โ€œLook here. That ugly spot is one of a kind. I doubt anyone but you could make something this hideous.โ€

โ€œโ€ฆSeriously?โ€ Yunice shot him a glare.

The next day.

Back in class, Yunice checked the latest message from the informant sheโ€™d planted in the Saunders family.

โ€œEverythingโ€™s normal with the Saunders family.โ€

Yunice thought of Owenโ€™s condition. It had been so long, and he still hadnโ€™t sought treatment or looked for a liver donor. Could it be that after Elsieโ€™s death, he had really lost the will to live?

Elsieโ€™s case was still in court. With such a high-profile criminal case, it would be months before any verdict was reached. Which meant Oscar, still under suspicion, probably wouldnโ€™t be released until after the New Year.

The main reason Oscarโ€™s name hadnโ€™t been cleared yet was his unexplained presence at the hotel where Elsie had been found.

During interrogation, Oscar reportedly refused to explain himself, which brought the investigation to a standstill.

Yunice had sent someone in to pass him a note, urging him to tell the truth and stop hesitating. But for some unknown reason, Oscar wouldnโ€™t speak.

Meanwhile, the Johnson family was still pulling strings, even getting a psychiatric evaluation for Morgan. Online speculation was already saying Morgan would avoid the death penalty.

Over at the Powell family, rumors swirled that Jensen had gone missing โ€“ none of Powell Corporationโ€™s shareholders could reach him.

The old chairman lay comatose in the ICU, incapable of making any decisions.

Amid all this chaos, the board had no choice but to appoint Paul as the acting CEO.

But just as Paul took the stage for the press conference to officially assume control of Powell Corporation, Taylor suddenly stormed up, snatched the mic, and shouted to the sea of reporters:

โ€œShareholders! Media! I am Paulโ€™s legal wife! And Iโ€™m here to publicly expose him โ€“ youโ€™ve all been deceived!

Powell Corporation is drowning in debt! The finances are hollow, and the cash flow has already dried up. The stock you all invested in is about to plummet!

And itโ€™s all because Paul, without my knowledge or consent, secretly transferred company assets and made reckless investments that led to huge losses!

All losses suffered by shareholders and the public should be Paulโ€™s responsibility!โ€

Before the press conference, Taylor had gripped the mic like her life depended on it, ready for the moment Paul tried to snatch it away.

She knew his temper โ€“ step on his ego in public, and heโ€™d explode.

She was counting on it. If he laid a hand on her, she could throw herself to the ground, claim injury, and present herself to the media as a long-time victim of domestic abuse.

It would all help with her eventual divorce.

But unexpectedly, Paul didnโ€™t react at all.

Instead, he looked at her with eyes full of tenderness and pity โ€“ right there in front of the cameras.

Taylor was caught off guard. She tightened her grip on the mic and stared at him in disbelief.

What was that nauseating expression supposed to mean?

Then Paulโ€™s assistant stepped onto the stage and respectfully handed him a fresh microphone.

Paul took it, turned to the media, and said calmly, โ€œMy wife and I have been going through some disagreements. Sheโ€™s been under a lot of stress lately. Iโ€™m sorry you all had to see this.โ€

Taylor nearly choked on her own rage. He was actually trying to downplay everything?

Just as she was about to snap and confront him, a voice came through the earpiece she wore. Yunice.

โ€œStay calm. Heโ€™s trying to provoke you.โ€

Taylor swallowed her anger and stayed rooted to the spot.

Yunice continued, her voice steady. โ€œThe mediaโ€™s watching. The more composed you are, the more credible youโ€™ll be.

Youโ€™ve already prepared the evidence. He claims this is just a personal dispute โ€“ so show everyone why it started.โ€

Taylor took a deep breath, barely suppressing the urge to slap Paul across the face.

She steadied herself. โ€œMr. Paul is right โ€“ we do have marital issues. But they didnโ€™t just start recently. From the day we got married, Mr. Paul has been cheating on me.โ€

With that, Taylor used a remote to activate the large screen behind them, displaying multiple chat logs, photos, and videos โ€“ evidence so clear and comprehensive that it left no room for denial.

Camera shutters clicked nonstop, flashes filling the room as reporters frantically documented every detail.

The woman involved in the affair was none other than the recently disgraced, now-deceased Elsie. She had already died under a cloud of scandal, and now, her illicit relationship with Powell Corporationโ€™s young heir added more fuel to the fire. It was a goldmine for the media.

โ€œEveryone knew about Paul and Elsie for ages,โ€ someone whispered. โ€œTheyโ€™ve been caught so many times, and Powellโ€™s been paying to bury every story.โ€

โ€œTaylorโ€™s no fool either,โ€ another muttered. โ€œShe mustโ€™ve had her own ambitions to turn a blind eye to his cheating for this long.โ€
