Chapter 637 The Trap Tightens

Wendy jerked back in shock, swallowing her unfinished sentence.

Her entire nasal cavity burned and tingled. Her vision blurred, her lips felt numb and swollen, and her teeth had cut into the inside of her mouth.

She felt warmth beneath her nose, reached up to touch itโ€ฆ blood.

โ€œWendy? What are you doing here?โ€

The students delivering the supplies had heard the commotion and hurried up the stairsโ€”only to find Wendy standing there.

She snapped out of it, clutching her nose as she pointed toward the supply room. โ€œTheโ€ฆ the supply room! Thereโ€™s a teacher and a student doing thatโ€ฆโ€

โ€œWhatโ€™s that?โ€ one of the students asked innocently.

โ€œYouโ€™ll see when you go in!โ€

The others hesitated but rushed toward the supply room.

Wendy followed, glancing around, but Yunice was nowhere in sight.

Did she run back inside?

Idiot.

Then they heard voices from inside: โ€œWhat are youโ€ฆโ€

โ€œWhat are you two doing here?โ€

Wendy heard the misunderstanding and lit up with glee. She rushed in, yelling dramatically, โ€œMr. Tommy! Youโ€™re a teacherโ€”youโ€™d never do something like this, right? Someone must be trying to frame you!โ€

As her voice rang out, the students parted to give her a view.

Only then did Wendy see who was surrounded by the group: her lackey and Mr. Tommy.

Her brow immediately furrowed. โ€œHeyโ€ฆโ€

Realizing she nearly exposed herself, Wendy shut her mouth fast.

โ€œWendy, isnโ€™t that your best friend? Whatโ€™s she doing with Mr. Tommyโ€ฆ and why does he look so weird?โ€

Tommy was breathing heavily, his face red. It was obvious to anyone what condition he was in.

The nervous little lackey caught Wendyโ€™s threatening look and quickly pointed and said, โ€œItโ€™s a misunderstanding! It wasnโ€™t meโ€”it was Yunice!โ€

โ€œShe was in here with Mr. Tommy the whole time. I saw them, but when she realized sheโ€™d be in trouble, she shoved me in and ran!โ€

Wendy put on a righteous expression. โ€œMy friend doesnโ€™t lie. I saw Yunice run off tooโ€”sheโ€™s definitely the one fooling around with Mr. Tommy!โ€

Tommy, gasping for breath, glared at her. โ€œYouโ€ฆ youโ€ฆ how can youโ€ฆ accuse meโ€ฆ Wendyโ€ฆ spreading false rumorsโ€ฆ is a crimeโ€ฆโ€

Wendy replied solemnly, โ€œMr. Tommy, donโ€™t try to cover for Yunice. Everyone here saw what happened. Are you really going to protect her?โ€

Tommy gritted out, โ€œYouโ€ฆ need proofโ€ฆ to make accusations!โ€

Wendy raised her brows. โ€œCome on, youโ€™re panting like thatโ€”isnโ€™t that proof enough?โ€

Tommy clenched his teeth and stood from the bench. โ€œYou know exactlyโ€ฆ why Iโ€™m like thisโ€ฆ donโ€™t you?โ€

Wendyโ€™s eyes shifted as she gave a mocking smile. โ€œHow would I know? Iโ€™m not the one messing around with youโ€ฆโ€

โ€œYes, you are!โ€ Tommy pointed at her. โ€œWendy, youโ€™re a student. Do you have any idea what consequences your actions could have?โ€

Wendy froze, caught off guard. โ€œWhat did I do to you?โ€

Tommy accused her furiously, โ€œYou came on to me. I rejected you. So you drugged me out of spiteโ€”and tried to force yourself on me!โ€

โ€œWhat?!โ€ Wendyโ€™s voice jumped an octave. Her gaze shifted from admiration to disgust. Was Tommy really that full of himself?

Sheโ€™d only wanted to get close because he was the top student, something to brag about in front of her friends.

Did he really think he was that charming? He might be popular on campus, but outside this med school, who even knew him?

There was no way sheโ€™d be dumb enough to throw herself at someone like that.

Wendy sneered, โ€œGet your facts straightโ€”the one messing with you was Yunice!โ€

Tommy snapped, โ€œIf Yunice was here, then where is she?โ€

Before Wendy could reply, someone cut in, โ€œWaitโ€ฆ do you guys hear that?โ€

Everyone went quiet.

There was a soft, steady beeping in the background.

Someone traced the sound to the smoke detector. โ€œItโ€™s going off. Who lit something in here?โ€

Beneath a table directly under the alarm, they found a half-burnt piece of paper. A student stomped it out and turned off the alarm.

Wendy paid it no mind, arms crossed as she smugly said, โ€œMr. Tommy, why donโ€™t you come with me to the administration office?โ€

She looked confident. Her uncle was the vice principalโ€”Yunice could run all she wanted, but the charges would stick.

Tommy shook his head in panic, turning to the other students. โ€œDonโ€™t believe her. She really did set me up!โ€
