Chapter 637 The Trap Tightens
Wendy jerked back in shock, swallowing her unfinished sentence.
Her entire nasal cavity burned and tingled. Her vision blurred, her lips felt numb and swollen, and her teeth had cut into the inside of her mouth.
She felt warmth beneath her nose, reached up to touch itโฆ blood.
โWendy? What are you doing here?โ
The students delivering the supplies had heard the commotion and hurried up the stairsโonly to find Wendy standing there.
She snapped out of it, clutching her nose as she pointed toward the supply room. โTheโฆ the supply room! Thereโs a teacher and a student doing thatโฆโ
โWhatโs that?โ one of the students asked innocently.
โYouโll see when you go in!โ
The others hesitated but rushed toward the supply room.
Wendy followed, glancing around, but Yunice was nowhere in sight.
Did she run back inside?
Idiot.
Then they heard voices from inside: โWhat are youโฆโ
โWhat are you two doing here?โ
Wendy heard the misunderstanding and lit up with glee. She rushed in, yelling dramatically, โMr. Tommy! Youโre a teacherโyouโd never do something like this, right? Someone must be trying to frame you!โ
As her voice rang out, the students parted to give her a view.
Only then did Wendy see who was surrounded by the group: her lackey and Mr. Tommy.
Her brow immediately furrowed. โHeyโฆโ
Realizing she nearly exposed herself, Wendy shut her mouth fast.
โWendy, isnโt that your best friend? Whatโs she doing with Mr. Tommyโฆ and why does he look so weird?โ
Tommy was breathing heavily, his face red. It was obvious to anyone what condition he was in.
The nervous little lackey caught Wendyโs threatening look and quickly pointed and said, โItโs a misunderstanding! It wasnโt meโit was Yunice!โ
โShe was in here with Mr. Tommy the whole time. I saw them, but when she realized sheโd be in trouble, she shoved me in and ran!โ
Wendy put on a righteous expression. โMy friend doesnโt lie. I saw Yunice run off tooโsheโs definitely the one fooling around with Mr. Tommy!โ
Tommy, gasping for breath, glared at her. โYouโฆ youโฆ how can youโฆ accuse meโฆ Wendyโฆ spreading false rumorsโฆ is a crimeโฆโ
Wendy replied solemnly, โMr. Tommy, donโt try to cover for Yunice. Everyone here saw what happened. Are you really going to protect her?โ
Tommy gritted out, โYouโฆ need proofโฆ to make accusations!โ
Wendy raised her brows. โCome on, youโre panting like thatโisnโt that proof enough?โ
Tommy clenched his teeth and stood from the bench. โYou know exactlyโฆ why Iโm like thisโฆ donโt you?โ
Wendyโs eyes shifted as she gave a mocking smile. โHow would I know? Iโm not the one messing around with youโฆโ
โYes, you are!โ Tommy pointed at her. โWendy, youโre a student. Do you have any idea what consequences your actions could have?โ
Wendy froze, caught off guard. โWhat did I do to you?โ
Tommy accused her furiously, โYou came on to me. I rejected you. So you drugged me out of spiteโand tried to force yourself on me!โ
โWhat?!โ Wendyโs voice jumped an octave. Her gaze shifted from admiration to disgust. Was Tommy really that full of himself?
Sheโd only wanted to get close because he was the top student, something to brag about in front of her friends.
Did he really think he was that charming? He might be popular on campus, but outside this med school, who even knew him?
There was no way sheโd be dumb enough to throw herself at someone like that.
Wendy sneered, โGet your facts straightโthe one messing with you was Yunice!โ
Tommy snapped, โIf Yunice was here, then where is she?โ
Before Wendy could reply, someone cut in, โWaitโฆ do you guys hear that?โ
Everyone went quiet.
There was a soft, steady beeping in the background.
Someone traced the sound to the smoke detector. โItโs going off. Who lit something in here?โ
Beneath a table directly under the alarm, they found a half-burnt piece of paper. A student stomped it out and turned off the alarm.
Wendy paid it no mind, arms crossed as she smugly said, โMr. Tommy, why donโt you come with me to the administration office?โ
She looked confident. Her uncle was the vice principalโYunice could run all she wanted, but the charges would stick.
Tommy shook his head in panic, turning to the other students. โDonโt believe her. She really did set me up!โ
