Chapter 610 Broken Beyond Repair
โOwen! Ah! Owen!โ
The door to Owenโs study was locked, and the soundproofing was decent. Even so, he could still hear Peggyโs muffled cries for help through the door. She sounded absolutely terrified, her voice trembling and hysterical.
The sharp clanging of metal echoed in the room as the wooden bedframe clashed with the handcuffs. Owen looked toward the urn on his desk. It was Elsieโs urn.
As Peggy screamed and sobbed in the background, Owen reached out and gently ran his knuckles over the smooth porcelain surface. But despite the tenderness of the gesture, his gaze remained ice cold. โElsie, I thought you were an angel sent to save me. Turns out you were the demon dragging me straight to hell.โ
Then, as Peggyโs sobs blended with Timothyโs disgusting laughter, Owenโs eyes darkened, and he suddenly swept the urn off the desk.
Crash!
It shattered into countless pieces, bone-white shards and ash spilling across the floor. Owen stared at the mess with indifference, then dragged both hands through his hair, listening to the sickening sounds coming from the room next door. Peggy didnโt stop screaming. Timothy didnโt stop moaning and laughing.
It went on like that for nearly half an hour. Only when the noise finally died down did Owen unlock his door and step out.
At that exact moment, Timothy walked out of the adjacent bedroom, holding his pants in one hand and buckling his belt with the other. Noticing someone nearby, he turned and saw Owen.
A nasty grin split across his face. โOwen, huh? Your wifeโs not bad at all. Way better than your mom.โ
When Owen didnโt charge at him, Timothy snorted in mockery. โAnd from her door on. I want to be able to come and go as I please.โ
Owenโs lips curled into a cold sneer, his face burning with invisible slap marks. "Now on, donโt bother locking."
He didnโt love Peggy. He didnโt even acknowledge her as his wife. But as a man, being humiliated like this โ it made his blood boil.
And yet, faced with this bastard who had him by the throat, he could only swallow it down.
Timothy, shirtless, swaggered back into Lilyโs room. He hadnโt actually planned to leave Peggyโs room so soon, but maybe heโd overdone it just now. His aging body couldnโt quite handle the energy of someone that young. He shook his head and decided to keep some distance, at least until he recovered.
Owen watched as Timothy, clutching his pounding head, stumbled into Lilyโs room with his pants dangling. Only then did he push open the door to Peggyโs room.
The moment he stepped in, Peggy flinched violently. When she realized it wasnโt Timothy, she snatched a shredded pillow and hurled it at him with all her strength. White goose down exploded everywhere, fluttering through the air like snow.
Owen stared at her through the feathers, unmoved, watching as she sat there handcuffed to the headboard, helpless and exposed after being assaulted. He took in the humiliation on her face, the terror in her tearsโฆ and then his gaze dropped to the smear of red on the sheets.
As a trained doctor, he knew exactly what that meant.
He let out a cold, humorless laugh. โSo you really were plotting all along. We didnโt do anything that night I was drunk, did we?โ
Peggyโs eyes were bloodshot, filled with hatred as she glared at him. Her voice cracked with despair. โYou bastard! You planned this! You locked me up and let him in on purpose!โ
โYou fucking cuckold! You let another man rape your wifeโwhat kind of man are you?โ
She rattled the handcuff chains violently. โLet me go! Iโm going to kill you! You ruined my life, you son of a bitch! You let that disgusting old freak touch me-!โ
Owen stood at the edge of the bed, just out of her reach. โYou brought this on yourself. If you hadnโt schemed to marry into wealth, none of this wouldโve happened.โ
โYou took every step into this mud pit of your own free will.โ
His gaze drifted back to the bloodstained sheets. โEvery woman who uses me deserves to die. You, Elsie-โ
Hearing that cruel curse, Peggy let out a bitter laugh, deliberately pushing his buttons. โUsed you? And who gave us the chance, huh?โ
โYou were the one who insisted on protecting Elsie. You drove out the only person in this house who could actually handle a crisisโYunice. You insist on shielding a predator. So tell me, who else was he supposed to bite but you?โ
โAnd me? Please, I got lucky. Total bluff. You only let me win because you were too guilty to fight back. Because your pride mattered more than anything. But the more a man values his pride, the less of it he actually has. You want your reputation, your face? Your mom got raped. Your sister got raped. And now your wifeโs been raped too. If I were you, Iโd just chop my dick off and call it a day. What kind of man are you supposed to be, anyway?โ
