Chapter 590 No Oneโs Problem but Yours
Owen said, โYunice, Timothy came to the house and wonโt leave. Can you figure out a way to get rid of him?โ
Worried Yunice might not remember who Timothy was, he added quickly, โYou know, that guy.โ
Yunice asked curiously, โWhatโs he here for?โ
Owen replied vaguely, โTrying to extort some money, of course.โ
Yunice let out a soft โohโ and said lightly, โJust a hundred, maybe two hundred grand, right? Treat it like giving to a beggarโฆ If itโs a big deal, I can even pay it for you.โ
Owenโs teeth clenched. Timothy wasnโt asking for pocket changeโhe wanted 10% of the hospital. That was two hundred million.
Yunice tossing out twenty grand like spare change made it clear: there was no way sheโd give him two hundred million.
Frustrated, Owen grumbled, โYou know how greedy that guy is. If we give him anything, heโll come back again and again. Itโll never end.โ
Yunice nodded. โTrue. So what do you want to do?โ
Owen said, โHe claims to have a home here in Silverburgh. Can you look into his background, see if thereโs a weak spot? Maybe even get him sent back to the mountains where he came from!โ
He lowered his voice and added, โEven better if you could trick him into some black mine, or sneak him onto a smuggling ship. Let him spend his life as a slave somewhere. I canโt stand the sight of him living well!โ
In Owenโs mind, if not for Timothy, their father would still be alive, and the Saunders family wouldnโt have fallen apart like this.
But Yunice replied with a slow drawl, โYou should be thanking Timothy. If not for him, wouldnโt you have ended up running the family, or had such a considerate little sister like Elsie? If he hadnโt taken our mom awayโฆโ
If it werenโt for him, Yunice wouldnโt have suffered so terribly either.
Owen choked on her sarcasm, assuming she was just talking nonsense again. โWhen are you going to grow up? Youโre not a kid anymore. Canโt you learn some tact? No one wants to hear you talk like this.โ
โTruth usually isnโt pleasant,โ Yunice said calmly.
Owen was done arguing. โJust handle it, will you? I canโt stand having that man in my house another day.โ
Yunice sneered. Even now, with trouble knocking at his door because he stole her rightful 10% of the inheritance, he still wouldnโt come clean.
Her tone turned frosty. โI never agreed to help you. What youโre asking me to do is illegal. Are you teaching me to knowingly break the law? What if I take care of Timothy for you, and then you report me to the cops afterward?โ
โYouโฆโ Owen didnโt expect her to think like that.
He lowered his voice. โDonโt act naive. You know the kind of things Wyattโs involved in. Even if he really did send someone off, do you think Iโd have the chance to report it? Donโt be ridiculous.โ
Yunice replied, โAnd donโt you be ridiculous either. Why would Wyatt help me? Just because weโre married? You think that means we share everythingโmoney, power, favors?โ
Owen bit back, โWhy not? Heโs your husband. Isnโt it natural for you to use his resources?โ
Yunice smiled coldly. โGreat point. Then how come, when Peggy asked to work at Saunders Hospital the other day, you didnโt let her? You two are married too. Why not let her use your money and resources? Isnโt that โnaturalโ too? Why didnโt you like it then?โ
Truly, Owen held everyone to different standards.
Yunice tapped at her keyboard and added, โI canโt get rid of him for you. But I did find out he does have a legal residence here in Silverburgh. He even owns property.โ
โProperty?โ Owen was stunned.
Because purchasing real estate in Silverburgh required more than money. You needed to have family ties or five years of legal residence.
Timothy, a hick from the mountains with no money or powerโhow could he possibly own a house here?
Yunice said, โIโll send you the sales contact that helped him buy the place. You can see if that leads anywhere.โ
As she was about to hang up, Owen snapped, โCanโt you just handle it for me while youโre at it?โ
Yunice sighed in exasperation. โCan you get one thing straight? This is your mess. Timothyโs got nothing to do with me. I donโt owe him anything. Iโm already being nice just looking into it for you, and now you expect me to do everything for you? What are you thinking?โ
She hung up without waiting for a response.
Still holding her phone, Yunice immediately dialed Peggy.
Peggy was currently locked upstairs by Owen, pacing frantically and trying to figure out how to escapeโwhen Yuniceโs call came in.
The moment she answered, her tone turned sickly sweet. โYunice, darling, I was just thinking of coming over to visit you today. My friend grows lychees on her farm, and I was planning to bring some over for you to taste. But that wretched Owen locked me in the house! Can you believe it?โ
