Chapter 570 The Rift

Yunice clenched the book in her hands for so long that by the time she came to, she realized sheโ€™d nearly scratched the ink right off the pageโ€”one entire paragraph had disappeared under her fingers.

She took a deep breath. She had to stay focused. She had her own way of bringing Morgan to justice.

Just then, Elianna turned back casuallyโ€”and suddenly froze, eyes fixed on something behind Yunice. โ€œWyatt? Why are you back?โ€

Startled, Yunice turned around and saw that Wyatt really had returned.

She stood up in a daze, just as Elianna continued, โ€œMadam Mary got a call earlier. Noraโ€™s awake. She and Mr. Morgan already rushed over to see her. So why didnโ€™t you go, Wyattโ€ฆโ€

But as soon as the words left her mouth, something clicked. Everyone knew how Wyatt felt about Nora.

There was no way heโ€™d skip seeing her.

Elianna quickly recovered and grinned like sheโ€™d figured it out. โ€œOh! You mustโ€™ve found out before everyone else and already spent the whole day with Nora, right? Now youโ€™re just coming back to give her some space to be alone with her family!โ€

Yuniceโ€™s lips twitched, almost imperceptibly. Her expression shifted, clearly uneasy.

Wyatt changed into his indoor shoes, hung up his coat, and shot Elianna a sidelong glance. โ€œKeep spouting nonsense and Iโ€™ll toss you out of Pavilion Hall myself.โ€

Elianna pouted. โ€œDid I say anything wrong?โ€

Wyatt gave Yunice a quick glance before turning back to Elianna. โ€œYouโ€™re talking nonsense right in front of Yunice: What are you trying to do? Start a fight between us?โ€

Elianna didnโ€™t back down. โ€œBut Iโ€™m just telling the truth. Noraโ€™s awake. Of course sheโ€™s coming back to Pavilion Hall. Yuniceโ€™s gonna find out sooner or later, right? You really think Nora would want to live here with Yunice andโ€ฆ with you? You know how proud she is.โ€

Yuniceโ€™s face darkened. โ€œWhatโ€™s that supposed to mean? Noraโ€™s too proud to live with me in Pavilion Hall, and Iโ€™m so shameless that Iโ€™d be willing to stay andโ€ฆ share a husband with her?โ€

Elianna was stunned for a second, then frowned. โ€œWhy are you taking it out on me? I donโ€™t care who becomes my sister-in-law, whether itโ€™s you or Nora. But Iโ€™m just stating the obvious.โ€

She wasnโ€™t wrong, even if her tone was nasty.

Two tigers canโ€™t live on the same mountain. Two women canโ€™t share the same house as its mistress.

Now that Nora was awake, it was time to decideโ€”who would stay, and who would leave?

Yunice turned to Wyatt. โ€œTomorrowโ€™s Friday. The civil affairs office is open. We wonโ€™t have any troubleโ€ฆโ€

Her revenge plan was moving along smoothly. The bait had already been taken. She no longer needed Wyattโ€™s power to make her move.

Nora waking up gave her the perfect excuse to walk away. It was the best time to leave.

Wyatt met her simmering gaze, and his face fell. โ€œIโ€™ll pretend I didnโ€™t hear that today. But if you bring up divorce again, Iโ€™ll drag you to Cardova and register a marriage certificate instead.โ€

Yunice froze. Cardova was the only country in the world that explicitly forbade divorce.

Watching him storm off toward the bedroom, Yunice felt her temper flare. What the hell was that supposed to mean?

Did he think he was some kind of dictator just because he had power? Was he planning to take multiple wives?

Was he hoping for some twisted fairytale where sheโ€™d be the mistress while Nora became the legal wife?

With a loud smack, Yunice threw the book in her hand aside and stormed after him.

Elianna wanted to follow and eavesdrop, but Yunice slammed the door shut behind her.

Elianna flinched, โ€œJeez, sheโ€™s got a temper!โ€

Yunice marched straight up to Wyatt. โ€œWhat the hell do you want?โ€

Wyatt fired right back. โ€œWhat do you want? You believe everything anyone else says, but not a single word from me. You wonโ€™t even ask me about it. You just make up your mind and declare me guilty. Wow, you must be really impressive!โ€

Yunice snapped. โ€œYou didnโ€™t go see Nora? You didnโ€™t know she was awake?โ€

Wyatt scoffed, โ€œI knew. So what? I didnโ€™t go.โ€

Yunice laughed coldly, โ€œYou didnโ€™t go see her?โ€

He sneered. โ€œArenโ€™t you the one threatening to divorce me? But now here you are, getting jealous and yelling like you actually love me or something.โ€

Yunice was speechless.

Wyatt scowled and rolled the wedding ring on his finger, grinding it with the other hand.

After a long silence, he finally muttered to Yunice, who was now sitting there quietly with a storm in her eyes. โ€œI didnโ€™t go see Nora. Believe it or donโ€™t.โ€

Then he stood up, clearly agitated, grumbling as he walked off. โ€œEvery time she comes up, we fight. What the hell did I do to deserve this?โ€

He kicked a chair out of the way and disappeared into the bathroom.

The sound of running water started soon after.

Yunice sat outside, pressing her fingers to her temples in frustration.

The situation didnโ€™t have other cool options like that. It wasnโ€™t worth it. Why?

The moment Nora woke up, she jumped to give up her placeโ€”as if she was the guilty one.
