Chapter 490 Not to Catch a Cheater
Yuniceโs mind went completely blank. Her expression shifted โ first fear, then calm acceptance.
Maine had been genuinely startled. She hit her back against the console and shrieked, โAre you insane?! What are you doing in there?!โ
She was completelyโฆ
How the hell did Yunice sneak into the car?
Then it hit her. Her eyes narrowed, wary. โYou heard everything we said, didnโt you?โ
So Yunice had been in the car the whole time sheโd sent that message?
Maineโs chest tightened. This woman isnโt easy to deal with.
Wyatt froze for several seconds as he processed the reality in front of him. His expression shifted, unsure, and then he awkwardly tried to crawl through the seat gap to reach Yunice.
But when he actually tried, it quickly became obvious it wasnโt going to work.
So, clearly flustered, he turned around, got out of the car, walked to the back, and opened the trunk.
That whole back-and-forth took a bit more time.
The moment the lid lifted, the interior trunk light blinked on, casting a soft glow over Yunice.
Wyatt stood outside, staring at her curled-up figure.
She was small and pale, face expressionless.
But those beautiful eyes were filled with emotion.
Wyatt could tell she felt wronged. He held out his hand. โCome out.โ
Yunice hesitated, then placed her hand in his.
Wyatt helped her out of the trunk.
Seeing them that close, Maineโs face twisted. She deliberately said, โWyatt, since she heard everything, thereโs no point hiding it anymore. She was always just a stand-in for Nora.โ
โNow that Noraโs waking up, sheโs not needed.โ
She looked straight at Yunice and added, โWeโre going to see Nora now. Donโt waste our time. Find your own way back.โ
Wyatt gripped Yuniceโs hand tighter. His voice dropped. โDonโt listen to her.โ
Then he led her into the car.
Maine immediately blocked their path. โWyatt, if she really cared about you, sheโd let you go see Nora! Noraโs the real one! Sheโs just someone you used for comfort!โ
Wyatt ignored her completely. He guided Yunice into the passenger seat and locked the door from the inside.
Then he walked around to the driverโs side.
Maine rushed to the backseat door, trying to open it.
She couldnโt let Wyatt leave!
But the door was locked. No matter how hard she yanked, it wouldnโt budge. โWyatt!โ
Wyatt rolled down the window halfway, his voice flat. โFind your own way back.โ
Then he stepped on the gas. The car shot forward, leaving Maine alone behind them.
Yunice looked into the rearview mirror, watching Maine clutch her face in helpless frustration. Her heart twisted a little. โYou should go check on her.โ
Wyatt said nothing. His brows furrowed deeply as he kept driving.
Seeing she couldnโt change his mind, Yuniceโs phone rang.
It was Mr. Carl.
If she didnโt pick up, heโd definitely worry.
โHello? Mr. Carl, Iโm okay. I just went out to pick up Wyattโฆโ
โItโs almost dawn. Youโve been up all night too. Letโs talk more this afternoon.โ
Mr. Carl didnโt press further, though he clearly had doubts.
After hanging up, Yunice sat there in silence, clutching her phone.
Then another message came through โ it was from Maine.
Her rage practically jumped off the screen.
โYunice, youโre a thief! Stealing someone elseโs man โ karmaโs coming for you!โ
It was pure emotional venting. Completely powerless. Yunice didnโt take it to heart.
Women always seemed to redirect their anger toward the โother womanโ after betrayal, ignoring the real issue: the manโs infidelity.
Wyatt pulled into the courtyard of the West Wing. He got out, opened the passenger door, and wordlessly grabbed Yunice by the wrist, leading her inside.
Not a single word of explanation.

Yunice didnโt ask either. She could tell Wyatt was stewing.
If she brought it up now, heโd probably explode.
Men were always like this. As long as they were getting away with two-timing, they were smooth as hell.
But the moment they got caught, theyโd lash out โ furious, humiliated, volatile.
Yunice didnโt want to fight. She didnโt want a scene. She wanted to resolve this peacefully.
She knew Nora existed. She had accepted it. What she wanted was to have a calm, honest conversation with Wyatt and figure out what to do next.
Wyatt didnโt stop until they reached the bedroom. Then he locked the door behind them.
Yunice figured heโd had enough time to cool off, so she sat on the bed and gently prompted, โTake me to see Nora.โ
Wyatt stood there, his tie halfway undone and hanging loose around his neck.
His emotions were written all over his face. He kept turning away, trying to pull himself together.
But when he finally looked at Yunice, his expression was still burning with anger.
โYou hid in the carโฆ just to catch me going to the Gardison Residence?โ
Yunice answered calmly, โI wasnโt trying to catch you.โ
