Chapter 482 No More Lies

The photo on the screen captured Owen kissing Peggyโ€™s cheek as she smiled sweetly at the camera, holding up her phone. The two looked affectionateโ€“like a couple deeply in love.

Owenโ€™s face instantly turned green.

Lily quickly cried out, โ€œOwen, thatโ€™s the wrong video! Change it, quick!โ€

Owen scrambled to stop the screen mirroring and began digging through his phone for the video of Yuniceโ€™s so-called bullying. But after searching for a long time, he realized the video had vanished. He threw his phone aside and suddenly remembered Lilyโ€™s.

โ€œMom, do you still have the video?โ€

Lily checked her phone and only then noticedโ€“it was gone from hers too.

Seeing Lilyโ€™s expression, Owen suddenly understood. He spun around, furious, and pointed at Yunice. โ€œIt was you! You hacked my phone!โ€

โ€œNoโ€ฆ not you,โ€ he muttered, then pointed at Wyatt. โ€œIt was him! He helped you!โ€

Yunice simply shook her head with an expression of pity, like he was beyond saving.

Carl barked, โ€œEnough! If you have no evidence, then shut up! Are you not embarrassed yet?โ€

Owen protested, โ€œMr. Carl, Iโ€™m telling the truth! Yunice is lying to you!โ€

Carl shot him a cold look. โ€œYouโ€™re only making yourself look worse. Youโ€™ve got more excuses than lies.โ€

Owen floundered, then grabbed at the last thread he could find. โ€œThen check Elsieโ€™s injuries! Thatโ€™ll prove Iโ€™m telling the truth. Just check her, and youโ€™ll see Iโ€™m not lyingโ€ฆโ€

Carl didnโ€™t hesitate. โ€œFine. Check her.โ€

The moment those words left his mouth, Elsieโ€™s face turned pale. She wasnโ€™t injured at all. In the kitchen, Peggy hadnโ€™t touched her. She had gone to the hospital and pressured the doctor into forging a report, just to stir up conflict between Yunice and Owen. She never expected Carl to be this thoroughโ€“to actually bring in medical professionals.

Now what?

Admit it? Deny it? Either way, she was cornered. Her face turned from white to red and back again. And being tied to the chair, she couldnโ€™t even pull her usual drama of trying to harm herself.

Yunice, calm and unbothered, sipped her tea, watching them fall into their own trap. She had tampered with Owen and Lilyโ€™s phones. All sheโ€™d done was plant a small virus that deleted the incriminating videos. Simple. Lily had been careless enough to record it where Yunice could spot it.

Soon, the sound of a siren echoed outside. Two doctors rolled in a portable ultrasound machine and entered the Crawford family living room. Without a word, they lowered Elsieโ€“chair and allโ€“onto her back, lifted her shirt, and began a public abdominal scan.

Elsie panicked and screamed. โ€œOwen! Owen! Help me!โ€

Owen shouted, horrified, โ€œMr. Carl, this is humiliating! Elsieโ€™s a girlโ€“how can you let this happen to her in front of everyone?โ€

No one responded. No one even looked at him. Only Lilyโ€™s sobs filled the room. She tried to rush over to cover Elsieโ€™s body, but two maids held her firmly in place.

Elsieโ€™s stomach, exposed, revealed some faint bruises. But they were oldโ€“scars from previous lab treatments. Annoyed by her noise, a maid stuffed a cloth into her mouth.

Owenโ€™s eyes nearly bulged out of his skull. He felt like his whole family was being humiliated and bullied. To him, it felt like the entire room had joined Yunice in ganging up on them.

The ultrasound probe slid slowly across Elsieโ€™s abdomen. The monitor showed a clear image of her internal state.

After about ten minutes, the doctor put the probe down and stepped over to Carl with his report.

โ€œMr. Carl,โ€ the doctor said calmly, โ€œafter examining Ms. Elsieโ€™s abdomen, we found no signs of internal trauma, no fluid accumulation, and no subcutaneous hemorrhaging. We conclude that she has not been struck in the abdomen.โ€

The moment the doctor finished, Owen exploded. โ€œBullshit! We saw her get hit! The hospital gave us a report! Those are real injuries, and youโ€™re ignoring themโ€“clearly, youโ€™ve been bribed!โ€

Yunice took another sip of tea and said lazily, โ€œNo need to shout. The doctor who gave Elsie that certificate is on his way. Why donโ€™t you hear what he has to say?โ€ She lifted her gaze and met Owenโ€™s eyes. Her expression was calm, but her presence hit like ice water.

Owen felt a chill spread through his chest. A sinking, gut-deep certainty.

Yunice wasnโ€™t just here to fight back tonight. She was here to end it.

Elsieโ€™s gag was pulled from her mouth. Sheโ€™d heard what the doctor and Yunice had said, and now her face had turned paper white. Cold sweat dripped down her forehead, soaking the few strands of hair stuck to her cheeks. She looked completely cornered.

But in Owenโ€™s eyes, all he saw was a helpless, pitiful girl.
